Maybe. Personally, I'd hope not. I'd like to see variation trailers like we have been seeing thus far.

But if 12 characters to be announced item is true, that would mean at LEAST 2 characters per month from December through April....if they're going to give reasonable space between reveals. Maybe they'll actually do new & returning character reveals together, like I speculated back in September?

At first I was skeptical, and thought it might've meant "12 characters are to be announced for the game in total." But if you consider the kombatants we already know about and the unknown boot pics, that's already 14.

Let's see, using the currently known version of the select screen....that would leave 3 spots to be unknown. That feels about right.

Why 12 more? I want more reveals than that next year. Darn it man lol.

Alright everybody, nothing to see here. I'm reading a digital copy now and the exact line about characters is this:

"With twelve other characters still to be
announced, it’s a fair bet that we will see many
more old faces. "

I'm not sure where they're pulling the number 12 from as earlier in the article they say there will be a total of 24 characters. Even if they counted Goro among the other 9 that have been shown so far, that math doesn't quite add up.

The line about Liu Kang and Kung Lao just says it would be interesting to see how mortal characters have aged.

What they say about Ferra/Torr being evil is purely speculation based on appearance by the author of the article.

There is no new information or pictures.

If there's only 12 more than that's a huge disappointment. I was expecting about 26 not including dlc...

26 total characters would also be a huge disappointment.

I am hoping for 30-32 and 6 or even 8 DLC characters. but I also dream a lot so that's a thing lol

That's 21 (or 22) characters revealed out of 24. That seems reasonable enough. Heck, not even every character was technically (supposed to be) revealed before MK9 was released. Cyber Sub-Zero, Sheeva, and a few others if memory serves correctly.

Is everyone assuming 12 MORE? Is 12 TOTAL out of the question? I didn't read the article.

That's a pretty solid theory for how many will be shown before release, but I still believe the 12 characters to be revealed was just a math error on the authors part in this instance. The article doesn't claim to have any sources for their information and considering there was nothing else new, it seems like a very odd piece of information for Netherrealm to have confided in a South African gaming magazine.

I believe it was Sheeva, Quan Chi and Cyber Sub that were not officially going to be revealed but I could be wrong.

That leaves 2-3 characters that'll (hopefully) remain secret until the game is released. That's not bad. Also not bad if what was recently said about "as many as they can jam in" which could mean we may get one or two more if time allows.

If this is true than this is pretty lame. The news is basically that some dude in South Africa named dropped Kung Lao and Lui Kang, guessed that seemingly evil characters are evil, and confirmed that there are more characters to be released. Awesome. No idea why people are excited by this. I know people on this site love to freak out about the roster number and all, but if the author isn't providing any reason for the number 12 in addition to providing zero sources to back it up its probably safe to ignore him.

2 or 3 characters being kept a secret isn't much. A preferred amount of about 5 or 6 would be good.

I can see Kotak and D'Vorah being evil, but not Ferra/Torr. They strike me as neutral.
