Cyber Subzero will be scraped for the more traditional subzero. Not sure how, but I am sure it will be a stretch if it happens.

Many of the "dead" MK9 characters will be revived somehow.

A Cage/Sonya romantic relationship.

Bo' Rai Cho will become involved in the storyline due to Liu Kang's death/inevitable revival.

Noob will keep being awesome.

Baraka will still be a punching bag.

-Brad- that's a very interesting point.. I feel like this time around, the amulet scenario will be a little different. But also feel like the amulet will also play a big role in the plot of the next game. And I also think it's due time that Reptile becomes a worthy more interesting character, instead of a mere henchman.

The interesting thing is everybody believes that story will be telling the events of MK4 again.How are you so sure? How do you know they won't return to the future,where Armageddon is resolved?

Maybe there will be some spinoff adventure game,that tells the story of MK4,where MK 2011 Story Mode ending was left, featuring Sub-Zero and Scorpion as protagonists(we had a lot of hints at that,Sub's ending and failed project MK Fire and Ice),kinda like Shaolin Monks,where first Sub-Zero is saved from Quan Chi's clutches,and then with Scorpion,they try to destroy Quan Chi,and,therefore,Shinnok,Brotherhood of Shadows and everyone in their way.Who knows,maybe it is Subbie and Scorp,who release Earth warriors from Quan Chi's hands?

It is just NOBODY expected them to retell the events of MK1-3,before MK9 was announced,and yet,they did it.I think,the main fighting game will return to events AFTER Armageddon. You know Ed Boon,he likes this mind-fucking games.

My personal theory for this one, that would be on character and not just "we just reverted him to human form":

Quan Chi, after losing his super agent Noob Saibot to the Soulnado, decides it would be super fun to have his young brother as the next one.

This way, Quan Chi returns him to his human form as a gift to show the benefits of joining him, and he orders him to test himself in kombat agains Scorpion (who will be around that time realizing how Quan Chi was manipulating him, so Quan Chi might want him dead now).

But before that, Sareena, who had a good relationship with Bi-Han and saw how Quan Chi corrupted him, warns the youn Sub-Zero about this (and that would allow to restart that interesintg Kuai Liang-Sareena relationship that was never completly developed).

Despite how Sub-Zero wants to kill Scorpion to avenge his brother (last time he was captured before being able to kill him), he spares his life following Sareena's warning and Scorpion sees how this Sub-Zero isn't a bad guy like his brother (like in the original timeline during MK2 when Kuai spared Johnny Cage life).
