Nitara, and her species in general, were one of the most interesting additions to the series, imo.

I found MK's take on vampires refreshing, because they weren't portrayed as an inherently evil species that absolutely had to be wiped out. In many other works of fiction, someone like Ashrah would been portrayed as the hero for trying to kill vampires, but not in MK.

If both Nitara and Ashrah returned, I'd like NRS to better explore their feud. Ashrah being a misguided zealot in that feud is, like I said, fresh, and I've often found vampire/monster hunters in stories to be overzealous and thus better as villains themselves.

I think both Nitara and Ashrah could be neutral players who could end end up allying themselves with both Raiden and one of the villains and who'd switch teams. Both Raiden and any of the villains could promise Nitara to free her realm from Outworld, and Ashrah could join any non-demonic characters like Kotal Kahn.

Finally, they could add more into the mix for these two. You could connect Nitara to D'Vorah, as I'd like both of their species to have some kind of connection, while Ashrah's story could also involve Sareena, Jataaka and Kia.

So what do you people think as far as these two are concerned? Should they both return, and if only one of them returned, which one should it be? (cue the oh-so clever "neither" reply I'd expect to get)
