i was reading a post on the arrmageddon board and some one mentioned, putting all the characters in one game to make it better was a bad idea, i agree, they probably wouldnt have if no one complained, i think the game needs to return to the roots of MK. MK1 wasnt really a dark game, it was an actual tournament that had a solid story around it, who cares if the bios didnt tell you every detail of a character, the mystery is what made it cool. For the next MK bring down the number of characters, make it an actual tournament, keep the create a character, focus more on game play, add more online modes, such as a monthly "mortal kombat" tounament, in which anyone can join with their create a character, and incorporate a ranking system, also something that would be cool, is if you were beaten in one of these tounaments, and some one performed a fatality on you, your created character would actually die, meaning the character would be deleted or denied access to future tounaments, to increase competitiveness, when a player accumulated so many wins, they are entitled to higher ranks and possible prizes, you get the idea. bring back that feel of the arcade where beating the crap out of some one then ripping their spine out was the reason you played, not because you wanted to to play as the character you always wanted for a brother, or something stupid like that.
Another thing that bugs me is the amount of information given out about the game before it is released, like i said before the mystery is what made the game awesome in the first place. Most times you'd put the quarters in the machine just to try and figure out a new move you did accidently or a fatality. Yea knowing all the moves and fatalities is ok casue then you can use them from the start, but to any of you that have played adventure or RPG games the most exciting part about them is the discovery of something new. The game should be more cyptic, like the clues to find reptile in the first MK, but obviously alittle more involved. The conquest mode has been a nice addition to the series, but trying to find everything in it was kind of a chore, instead of a challenge, come on, fetch quests blow.
I think the best choice for the next game would be to create some characters that arent ovre the top, some that you might see in the original mortal kombat movie, the fatalities used to be cool because the people didnt look like super heros or super villans. thats all i have to say about that for the moment, doesnt anyone else feel this way about mortal kombat?
also i think playing in the aracde when the games were still popular there, changes my perspective on what made the game great, so to those of you who didnt live in the time when the arcade was god, know that you havent really played MK unless it was in the arcade.
