Is that a spoiler because you have a source? Or is this pure speculation aND not a spoiler?
To address the question I would be happy with it. It strengthens the lore.

It could be, he doesn't seem to have any water based attacks though. I know Hydro could use water so cold that could freeze but this new SZ seems to be using pure ice. I guess they could have changed him to another regular cyromancer though.

I think it could be possible but then why not just call him hydro instead of Sub-zero??
I thought it was a new sub-zero ever since E3.

This is what I hate about being a Sub-Zero fan. The fact we don't know who the hell is behind the mask even though history shows Kuai has been the mainstay in that role.
Idk if it's him. It may not be, but damn Hydro? Shao Kahn? Bi-Han? Kuai Liang? Frost as a crossdresser? A son of Bi-Han or Kuai?
It's just kind of stupid to me when one guy has been Sub-Zero for the whole damn series except for one game.

I've always liked Sub-Zero. Bi-Han was cool when he was Sub-Zero and Kuai Liang even more so. But their story was unique. There might be two of them, but it was all so well connected and Subbie was evolving alot as a character. Them actually being descendants of a race of Cryomancers of Outworld and their powers going down their bloodline was so cool (pun intended)... as long they were the only ones!
Frost was the first sign of Sub-Zero not being so unique after all. I've never liked her, though I did like her MKDA main outfit design... but her whole concept was simply being a female Sub-Zero...
And now there's possibly one more. The fact that Boon said there are many like them in the world, it just makes Sub-Zero so NOT unique, so NOT special. The whole aspect of the Sub-Zero mantle being passed down through each generation was something special. If this is indeed a new Sub-Zero, I just hope it is some kind of son of the former Sub-Zero's... but since one is a demonic wraith and the other a cyborg ninja, it just seems so unlikely.
I've always liked Sub-Zero... but him suddenly being such an interchangable character just seems like such a bad excuse to get him in any future MK game. So I'm not liking him all that much anymore.

I still think that it's going to be a morph of Bi-Han and Kuai Liang!

That would suck worse than if it was a new one. I just don't want Kuai's end game being cyber fucking sub-zero. Yes, cyber subz has a few fans here and there. He's MOSTLY hated though.
At least everyone else got to die human. He got shit on by becoming cyber and then died. I mean let's admit this. When anyone brings up cyber subz most are like yeah I'd rather have human subz. So, even IF I tried to like the cyber bastard because he's Kuai Liang, nobody else is going to. He's in a MUCH worse position than ANY of the other dead characters because people actually want them back. I've seen Kitana, Kung Lao, Jade, etc all asked to make a return. You see people begging for Cyber Subz back? Nope. If you're going to kill Kuai at least give him a better end.
@Jaded
I agree. I don't like the whole there's a sea of Sub-Zero's shit. It definitely lessens his impact. The brothers were supposed to be survivors of a dying race. Apparently not anymore though.

... here's your Subzero, now plain zero.

The day that happens Rain will take over all the realms, replace the Grand Master and subsume Hydro Sub Zero's powers. It is uninspiring if the title of Sub Zero is passed to Hydro who is a pushover compared to Rain.
If all it takes to become a Sub Zero is water manipulation then by that logic then Purple Rain is destined to be the greatest Lin Kuei warrior ever!
Straying from the original topic; I think Rain deserves to be Grand Master. I love the idea of Rain obtaining the Dragon Medallion before Sektor or another clan member for that matter.

how would people feel if the story was that the lin kuei during the process of turning subby into a cyborg. Took his DNA.. for cloning. Much like what Shao Kahn was doing with Mileena. Only they did it to make a SEA of SUBZEROS
BOOM so it is Kuia but not really kuia. yeah
BOOM so it is Kuia but not really kuia. yeah
There were always more than one cryomancer in the MK'verse. Existence of Frost is prove of that.
Now, NRS finally decided to put interesting concept for a good use, if it is indeed a new Sub-Zero. As for impact...whatever. As long as character has a good story I don't care if he is a new or old.

Sub-Zero (Kaui Liang) and Hyro are friends. When he was killed, Hydro wasn't.
This^ would be the most valid theory.
