Do you expect it ? I heard the MKX beta has and will have much tweaks like nerfs and buffs so maybe they'll add them and several more characters and backgrounds in the XXL version ? Like Street Fighter 4 did ? Is NRS capable of pulling that out ?

No, XL is the end of MKX. A Game Of The Year edition is a pretty definitive answer on that as Injustice 2 is no doubt being revealed in a few months.

Its amazing how a console exclusive game that hasn't really been relevant for years and is on a much lower budget can manage to be supported for 3 years and counting and does fine (Killer Instinct) yet WB wont even let NRS support one for longer than a year...I don't get it.

Each game sells better than the last, that's about all there is to it. I doubt MKXXL will ever happen, and at the very least I could see maybe a couple more characters, but that's it.

MK XXL will be the game of the year edition for Mortal Kombat 20.

No.
But booN said us to expect more things to come and that was after the GGPO so I will :D Maybe also add story chapters, skins, brutalities. Why would they even bother with the online code if they don't plan to support the game ? If they support the game one more year, they need to add fresh content.

Could someone ban this Asesino person? I mean I know this place is kinda dead, but we don't need activity from this troll.

You're honestly reaching at this point. A few skins and brutalities in future updates are low-key possible but anything more than that is highly unlikely considering Injustice 2 is around the corner. Once that gets revealed, all of their focus will be shifted to that, not Mortal Kombat, and all likelihood is that that announcement is 3-ish months away.
As for why they'd bother with the improved netcode for MKX, it's probably something they were working on for Injustice 2 and decided to apply it to MKX as well because 1) it works a lot better and 2) because of how well MKX sold and is continuing to sell and to appease people after how much shit they've received the past 10 months over the online being so shitty. The only other reason is because of it's tournament presence, not because it could receive more future content.
Yes, Boon said more things were to come but honestly, he's probably referring to 1) Patch updates and balancing and 2) Tweaking of the netcode if needed. If you're expecting more characters, more arenas, a lot more skins, ect. then I think you're going to end up highly disappointed. This is the end for MKX as far as content goes. Just best to accept it.

XL is the last I believe. Sure there working the online kode but many people will still play online even without further characters or skins. At this point they probably won't add more. Would I want more hell yes. I doubt it though.
Yeah the possibility is really small, but there is at least :D And how do you know Injustice 2 is even in the works ? I don't think so. You don't consider some good points and they are: competition with KI's constant updates and SFV free future dlc. If MK is really that well sold and all they won't leave it for one simple reason: milking. If Capcom can pull 5 different version of SF4, WB can too (is that pun?).

- NRS are hiring positions with Batman / DC inspired artwork included on the same page.
- The timeline of NRS as it stands; MK9 announced 2010 / released 2011, Injustice announced 2012 / released 2013, MKX announced 2014 / released 2015, Injustice 2.....
- Cross-promotional marketing. If the above trend continues, Injustice 2 will release in 2017. What also comes out in 2017? A little Warner Bros. movie called Justice League Part 1.
As far as the MK milking goes, they've already milked it with a second DLC pack and now a re-release. Given WB is at the helm and their DC movies are going full force come next year, a milking tie-in Injustice is surely on the horizon thus MK is done for now. That is that.

It's just common sense really. NRS seem pretty set with the release pattern they have for their titles so I doubt that's gonna change because of the competition, especially since MKX is such a big seller. They don't really have to worry about changing their game plan at this point because it's solid and it made them money.
And as far as Injustice is concerned, that also seems like a set-in-stone prospect with the DC movies launching, it's the perfect marketing tool. Whichever characters don't make the initial roster that also happen to be involved with BvS or Suicide Squad or Justice League would be perfect DLC candidates.
Would I like more MKX content? Meh, yes and no. I'd like to see more characters running on this engine against the characters we already have but at the same time I want something new, something fresh. I want more old faces to return and I want to see what cool, new concepts we can get design wise out of the team. And for that to happen, I think Injustice 2 needs to come out. They need that extra 2 years to put more love and care into the development process like what MKX was given. Despite my gripes with the returnee's in the MKX roster, the new characters we got were some of the best designs I've seen out of this franchise since 2002.

I agree that working on Injustice can only help the next Mortal Kombat. A lot of people complained about stuff that looked like Injustice in the various trailers leading up to MKX's release but I personally feel like working on brand new characters, powers and designs really helped MKX.
Besides, Injustice was a great game. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

I think Injustice 2 is probably happening. I can't remember which tournament it was but I remember watching the stream and the two commentators were talking about some guy they heard in the crowd and one of them said something like this " Yeah he was sitting back there talking about how Injustice sucks and there shouldn't be another one and Paulo was like right there!"
Maybe I am just reading into something more than I thought, but why would it matter to Paulo if a random guy is talking shit about an Injustice sequel if there wasn't one in the works?

I like to think Shao Kahn describes MKXL best in the MK9 intro.
"The end of all things"
Any hope for major future content is gone. Better netcode and that's it. And that's all it really needed in the first place.
Sidenote: I'm hoping for a new NRS project. Injustice 2 just doesn't excite me.

Same here, I tweeted to Tyler that NRS should work on a new IP, because it's just...we've seen DC comic dudes so often, especially nowadays with all the movies, and I look back in the 90s where we had all these (fairly shitty) fighters, but there was always interesting concepts thrown around that just needed some better gameplay added to it.

Tru dat.
Seriously though, WB is too busy alienating the MK fanbase one demographic at a time.

What makes you think that WB are comparing their practices with the other companies? There's no evidence of them doing anything to outdo anyone else, if there was MKX would have been better. (I'm not talking about the game quality itself, but all the bureaucracy that's been going on for the past year surrounding MKX's release.)

With as much money as NRS is making WB, there is no reason they can't expand the team so that they can put a new game out every year. I really don't want to wait until 2019 for the next MK game. To be honest though, I wouldn't mind a Horror Kombat game first, just for something different story wise.
