If you want to play as Cyrax or Smoke, Baraka or Kabal, go play MK9, or one of the many other games they've been in already. They don't need to be in every fucking game. We've got enough of that going around (*cough* Liu, Jax, Kitana *cough*).
Seriously! FUCK Liu Kang. They knew he was worthless back in MK:DA and killed him off but some whining bitches who never gave half a fuck about the story complained and they put him back but he has not served any useful purpose in the story for a long time. It made sense to have him in MK9 because it was a reboot but by the end, he had proven himself to be a pathetic chump who went insane over shit he should have been mentally and emotionally prepared for, and Raiden had to put his bitch ass down. Reminding us all again that NRS is well aware that he is useless. He is a douchebag who barely has a personality. Just a bland generic ripoff of Bruce Lee. They need to leave him dead so a more interesting character has a slot!
He should've been prepared for a apocalyptic scenario were half his friends died and his mentor and god Raiden tried to sell his friends souls to the devil and then stopped him from trying to save his home and people and told to just let him the guy whos killing everyone win ?
Yeah pretty much, He had trained his whole life to fight in the Mortal Kombat Tournament. A tournament with a history of violent death. With the fate of the world at stake, someone trained to win this tournament would have to be prepared to stay strong and focused in the face of violence, bloodshed and death. Liu Kang completely failed at that and his emotional and mental instability would have caused Armageddon if Raiden hadn't stopped him. (Let's not forget the blatant disrespect for a freaking GOD) Meanwhile two people who had been far less prepared for such violence, Sonya who may have had some experience, and Johnny who would have had none whatsoever managed to hold it together to the end and later helped Raiden save the world yet again. And just for fun, let's throw in how the only times Liu showed any personality, he was acting like a jealous girlfriend over Johnny ("What do you see in him?") Or a smug douche trying to score a date with Kitana.
He was obviously written to be a lousy and somewhat unlikable character that they fully intended to kill off at the end. What I can't fathom is that they knew years ago that his status as the default champion of MK had gotten stale and killed him off, only to bring him back to serve no real purpose in the story, then to reboot the series and kill him off again. Why bring him back again? There are so many other characters with more compelling stories that could emerge as heroes to save the world. Why keep following that same stale "Liu Kang is always the champion" cycle? Making him a villain might be a good angle, but there's at best a 50/50 chance of them doing that this time, but more likely they won't. SO again, WHY?? The only way bringing him back is useful is so him and Kitana could have a kid, and even the kid would be more interesting.
