XiahouDun84 inspired me to start work on my own idea for the next saga for Mortal Kombat. I've finally got my exact list of characters worked out, and have finally started penning it all together. This might be inappropriate to post here, and I am not nearly as respected as some posters here, so if this is an obstruction, please, feel free to move this. I just feel like throwing my creative ideas out there.

Story:

"Mortal Kombat does not just decide the fate of mortals; but the fate of immortals. They cannot be killed; cannot be slain, yet they are honour-bound by the fabrics of the tournament, and their will cannot be cast over the realms unless a representative of their realm wins the tournament. I find this interesting, as in some ways, I have observed, the Gods are more helpless than those who serve under them. My master does not find it interesting, however. He finds it infuriating.
Apox is a dark master, there is no doubt about that, but it is better to serve him than stand against him. He has claimed our realm, Alfera, and the surrounding realms, Eteria, Beilze, Shanris and Seilla. I do not know his origins, but I do know he is all powerful, and chose me to be his sorceress. It is he that taught me a lot of what I know about combat, and in return, I have taught him about sorcery. I have made some interesting revelations to him.
It is commonly known that there are many realms connected to each other, but what many do not realize is that these realms form a universe, and that these universes are held separate and governed by their own Elder Gods, who report to a force even greater. My father created a sect which innovated the art of travel between these universes, but one must have to be beneath the notice of the Elder Gods of the universe they are entering, or else they could be refused entry, and expelled into nothingness. Master Apox is far too powerful to make the jump, and brings with him too much omnipotence. It is I who must venture across the universes, remaining beneath the sights of each set of Elder Gods, to find a way for him to conquer a new set of realms.
Mortal Kombat was created to contest the fate of the realms in this universe. I have managed to find a loophole, though, in my extensive studying of the magic fabrics of the tournament. I believe I can allow my master to enter this universe, and I believe the Mortal Kombat tournament holds the key. I have approached the ridiculously vain Queen of Edenia and she had agreed to allow a new Mortal Kombat to be held. Soon these realms will feel the wrath which conquered a universe."

-The words of Selphina, sorceress to Apox

“A new Mortal Kombat tournament will take place in Edenia. As with any Mortal Kombat tournament, the stakes are high. The powers of the tournament have been enhanced by its hostess, a powerful sorceress, who has forced the powers of the tournament into a pendant. The wearer of this pendant will possess the powers of the Mortal Kombat tournament: Eternal youth; their will enforced upon many realms; their powers piqued to their prime. The winner of this tournament could cause the general peace between the realms to fall. The winner could also maintain the peace. The winner could also change the fate of those within their realm. As with any Mortal Kombat tournament, the fates of many are in the hands of one.

-The words of Fujin, Protector and Guardian of Earthrealm

Here is the first bio:
Mileena
Origin: Outworld
Alignment: Evil
Bio: During Armageddon, I fought my “sister,” Kitana. Our battleground was high upon Blaze’s pyramid, and the magical properties there warped us. I cannot explain how it happened, and I care not to, all that matters is that I was beautiful, and Kitana was hideous. Kitana attacked me with a vengeance, but my new beauty filled me with a confidence and passion for life, and I soundly defeated Kitana. I did not get time to kill her, though, as Blaze was defeated at that moment, and Taven was named new Guardian of Edenia.
I managed to pass as Kitana in the aftermath, and as Princess, ordered “Mileena” to be imprisoned for the rest of her natural life in my dungeons. Karma is a bitch, eh? There was only one thing that stood in my way of completely controlling Edenia: “Queen” Sindel. All it took was a simple “accident,” and I became Queen Kitana of Edenia. Finally, I sit where I am meant to.
During one of my glorious days of ruling, I was approached by a sorceress, Selphina. She was wielding a pendant which claimed to hold the power of the Mortal Kombat tournament, and I sensed she was not lying. Besides, I could feel the power. She wished to host a new incarnation of the Mortal Kombat tournament in Edenia. I may be beautiful now, but I realize it will not last forever, and eventually I will end up as ugly as Sindel. If I am Mortal Kombat Champion, by legend, I would have eternal youth. My reign would be infinite in its beauty. That is true poetic justice. I have requested one of my greatest warriors, and my prospect King, Saturai, enter the tournament, but my instincts have not left me, and I know not to trust anyone too much, lover or not. I shall enter this tournament myself, and I intend to win.

Here are two more bios for returning characters:

Fujin
Origin: The Heavens
Alignment: Good
Bio: Raiden was corrupted after his sacrifice to Onaga, but his intentions were for the good. He fought Shinnok to the bitter end during Armageddon, and their battle became so intense, that nothing of them remains. They destroyed each other's very souls. Now I am Guardian of Earthrealm; it's Protector. I return to the realm to discover that the cybernetic former Lin Kuei warrior, Sektor, has converted most of the Earth’s populous into his robotic pawns. I had failed at my task, before I had even begun my tenure as Protector of Earthrealm.
Inspired by Raiden, I have interfered beyond what the Elder Gods have recommended. I have encased Sub-Zero’s Lin Kuei temple, the Shaolin Monk temples and Sonya Blade’s Special Forces base with protective barriers, preventing Sektor from reaching them. I fear his control over the world is too complete for them to combat, however.

I hear of a new Mortal Kombat taking place in Edenia, with the prize being the very power of the tournament itself. Previously the tournament was used to wager realms, but I have a feeling that the winner of the tournament could be able to use the power in this form to expel Sektor from Earthrealm. Raiden sacrificed his immortality to fight for Earthrealm in the past, now I shall do the same. I must step down as overseer of Earthrealm, and instead become one of its Champions.

Taven
Origin: Edenia
Alignment: Good
Bio: My brother defeated Blaze during Armageddon. I thought I had lost my chance at becoming God and protector of Edenia. We had agreed to face the hulking beast together, but as I prepared to make my initial attack, Daegon betrayed me, and rendered me unconscious so he could have all the glory for himself. It turned out my father, Argus, was watching all along, and he found my selflessness more admirable than Daegon’s ambition. I was made the new deity of Edenia, whereas my brother was cast into the royal family’s prison to serve out an eternal sentence for his weaknesses. I cannot blame Daegon for giving into ambition. He had been living amongst humans for years before I had awoken. Watching them fight in Armageddon, it was clear to see how my brother was corrupted by them. Innocence cannot thrive amongst mortal souls.
My mind cannot be on my younger brother’s suffering, though. A new Mortal Kombat tournament has been announced. I do not understand who is behind it or why, as it was to my understanding that the Elder Gods need not interfere with us since Armageddon has passed; but I do know that the dragon iconic with the tournament will draw fighters from all over the realms to compete.
I find that the prize for winning the tournament is a pendant entrusted with the energies of the tournament. Mortal Kombat can sustain eternal youth for its Champion. Do I dare sacrifice my status as a God to compete in this tournament, so I can present my brother with the pendant, ensuring he shall not suffer his sentence in decay? I realise that I will be vulnerable if I make this sacrifice, but it was my selflessness that has led me down this path; surely it is the path I am destined to follow.

I have made some edits (OK, a lot of edits) to tidy things up. It's hard to work out the order to post characters and things. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it as time goes on.

What we have so far are three returning characters, all in a position of power in their realms, stepping down to compete.
Fujin would return as an updated version of his current self. He might wear a hat similar to Raiden's on his attire somewhere, as kind of a silent tribute (and reminder) of his fallen brother. Taven also sacrifices his status as God, if only for more selfish reasons.
Mileena returns, and she would have the most differentiating look from her classic appearance. I picture Mileena living it up now she is queen. Her face would be completely revealed, showing off Kitana's beauty, and her color scheme would change. I think maybe black and gold, with little bits of red. I want Mileena to move away from her "female ninja" image, and embrace her new role as Queen of Edenia, even if she usurped the thrown.
There is a problem with Mileena's participation in the tournament that she has overlooked, which will become apparent in her ending when I get around to it.
Coming up next will be a returning villain, and a new character with pure intentions, but with his mind between his legs, which could cause a lot of problems for the realm of Edenia.

Sektor
Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Evil
Bio: I spent years being a slave to the Lin Kuei. I was the first to step up for their cybernetic ninja conversion process. I was given the power of a bulldozer, and the speed of an aeroplane. I was the deadliest human being in the world. No, I was more than human now.
During the battles with the Deadly Alliance and Onaga, I managed to crack the exact code of the human mind, and duplicated it into every system I could hack into. My technology was so state of the art, that there was no system which could refuse me. I gained entrance into the world’s defenses, and lodged a copy of the code that makes up my mind wherever I could. If my body is destroyed, then my mind will repair itself, and live again.
I lead my own clan, now. The Tekunin are like every other machine in Earthrealm...they follow my orders without question. Armageddon led to the destruction of many of my forces, and many of the systems holding my mind. Earth’s Special Forces have gathered a few machines and continue to block me out of my complete control. For mere humans they are pesky. I have been alerted that a new Mortal Kombat tournament has been announced, and I know for a fact the Special Forces will feel it their mission to help out. I have also been informed that there is power rewarded to the winner. My logical processing unit tells me that I am more powerful than anything on Earth, but Armageddon informed me of magics I can not analyze. If Sonya Blade, Kurtis Stryker and LK-4D4 get their hands on powerful magic, I do not need my LPU to tell me that this is a risk too big to take.
Saturai
Origin: Edenia
Alignment: Good
Bio: Growing up in Edenia was not always a pretty thing. Shao Kahn took over our realm, and for years we had to share our lands with hordes like the Tarkata. Queen Sindel, and especially Princess Kitana, managed to save our realm, though, and lead it back into good times. I was more than happy to sacrifice my body for the sake of our once again beautiful realm, and I enlisted in Edenia’s army, just in time to fight in Armageddon, where I managed to take out the frustrations of years on many Tarkatan animals. I fought alongside my childhood friend Ellira, and although surrounded by so much death, I had never felt so alive. This was a good fight.
When our armies where victorious, and returned to Edenia, we were greeted with cheering and respect. I was awarded highest honors for my efforts, and Princess Kitana herself seemed to take a special interest in me. It was not unusual that I was to be invited to her chambers for meals. I could tell Ellira was a little jealous when rumors started to materialize about me being a prospect for Kitana’s groom. She is taking it too far, though. When Queen Sindel passed away from wounds sustained during Armageddon, she believed that Kitana was responsible for her death. Now she comes running to me and claims that Kitana is Mileena, and that the Mileena we have imprisoned is actually our rightful Queen? I feel partially responsible for her delusion. It was I that pushed her to join the Edenian guard, and fight with me in Armageddon. Her sanity was obviously damaged by the horrors she saw there. It is this reason I do not report her to the authorities. I just hope she gets a hold of herself soon.
Queen Kitana is acting more erratic than the stories of her would have suggested, though. Perhaps her increased duties as queen have stressed her out a little? She seems like she really needs a king by her side. We have begun sleeping together, and while I am flattered, it seems almost improper. Kitana has asked me to compete in Mortal Kombat on behalf of Edenia, and to win her the pendant that comes with victory. When I win the tournament, I intend to give Kitana what she really wants: I shall present it as an engagement gift.

I am very intruiged by your concept. Making Mileena take over Kitana's role eternal is also a fave of mine, though not something I make in my own MK storyline. I also like Fujin take Raiden's place as expected, and Taven become the god of Edenia, though I did not expect someone to make Daegon's ending be true (it was his ending where this happens, right?? :S ).

Apox and his sorceress Selphira smells alot like Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, but I hope I will be surprised to see it's not the case XD
And I can't wait to see what kinds of races there are in these new realms of yours.

All in all I like your ideas and I can't wait to see more of your bios and whatever new characters you have i store for us ^^

Thanks for the positive support. I am a big fan of your writings, too, so hopefully we can both keep churning out the ideas until the new game is released. I've run into a bit of a road block with mine, however, as I just read Ashrah's released bio. It doesn't interfere too much, in fact it kind of fits, it just needs to be re-worked a bit. I'll also be removing a character, and instead placing a new one in their place.

The Selphina/Apox relationship is kind of like Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, but that was kind of intentional. There will definitely be some differences between the two relationships, however.

I did take Daegon's ending, and carry it forward. I'm sure Taven's is the one the MK Team will run with, but I chose Daegon's because it just gave me a hopefully interesting idea to run with, as you will see in due time.

Two more bios, one returning and one completely new:

Cyrax
Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Good
Bio: I, unit SF-4D4, codename: Cyrax, made a crucial mistake during Armageddon. I stayed to fight with Lieutenant Sonya Blade, rather than help Major Jackson Briggs return to Earthrealm and try and stop LK-7T7 from commencing his plans of world domination. Lieutenant Blade says I was crucial to the “Forces of Light” surviving and winning Armageddon, but Major Jackson Briggs is presumed dead, and the Tekunin has a relative stronghold over Earth.

Major Jackson Briggs’ fall will not be without purpose. I have vowed to delete this Tekunin occupation, and have made it my top priority. I have provided Lieutenant Sonya Blade and her new allies; Officer Kurtis Stryker and Seidan warrior, Darrius, with knowledge of my Lin Kuei taught and programmed martial arts. We have been picking off Tekunin surveillance parties one-by-one, tipping the scales ever so slightly. It was then that we got a visit from Earth God, Fujin. He informed us of a new Mortal Kombat tournament to take place in the realm of Edenia, with the prize possibly being able to give the bearer enough power to directly challenge Sektor, and end this Tekunin error.

Sonya Blade and Kurtis Stryker both intend to enter the tournament, and while they are admirable humans, they do not have the same power and skill I do. I have become fond of them, and will not let them die, but I must be the one to face Sektor, as I understand his programming. He is still limited by his dependence on his mechanics, and hides behinds legions and legions of forces. If I manage to get the power boost from winning the tournament, I will be able to enter Earth’s mainframe using information possessed by Lieutenant Blade, and delete Sektor’s control. Then I may engage my former brother, and destroy him. Major Jackson Briggs, this is for you.

Ellira
Origin: Edenia
Alignment: Good
Bio: Edenia was restored to its original life and prosperity under the guidance of Princess Kitana and Queen Sindel. Appreciating the gift they had given us, I wished there was something I could do to repay them. My friend since childhood, Saturai, joined the Edenian Guard to help maintain Kitana and Sindel’s intended reign of peace. This inspired to me join, as well. Even though Saturai was higher ranked than me, I fought alongside him personally for most of Armageddon.

When the battles were over, Kitana returned, with her clone and attempted usurper of the throne, Mileena, her prisoner. Sindel was injured in the battles of Armageddon, but we also had our Queen back. Unfortunately, we lost one of our most inspirational warriors. Jade was killed. Jade had helped train me, personally, and took a special interest in me, seeing potential that a lot of my superiors were apparently not gifted enough to see. When I survived Armageddon, and they didn’t, that kind of showed them who was right. Saturai and I were awarded highest honors for our efforts in Armageddon, and Saturai was taken a special interest into by our Princess. I was happy for him, to think, my childhood friend one day becoming the King of all Edenia? Then bizarre things began happening.

Our Queen passed away under mysterious circumstances. The castle released a statement about it being side effects from Armageddon. I saw the same glow on Queen Sindel’s face that I saw in Saturai’s when he was presented with his medal, and when he looks at Kitana. She was as alive as she had ever been when she returned, I am sure of it. Then I was approached by a sorcerer who claims to know the truth about Kitana. He informed me that it was not Mileena in the dungeons of the Edenia castle, but Kitana herself! The new “Queen” sitting on the thrown is the imposter Mileena. I knew he was telling the truth, and that Mileena has somehow stolen the thrown. Not only that, but she is preparing to personally enter the new Mortal Kombat tournament! Does she not realize what it will do if she wins? Outworld and Edenia would be linked once more, and the barriers between our recently separated realms could be broken, again! I cannot let Mileena win the tournament. Not only that, but I cannot allow the imposter to sit on the throne which rightfully belongs to Kitana. I just hope Saturai forgives me for my “treason.”

These two characters are both returning:

Darrius
Origin: Seido
Alignment: Neutral
Bio: At some point, one has to realize when a battle is lost. For years I had been leading a resistance against the order maintained in Seido. Freedom is meant to be had. Total chaos, as one-time ally of mine preaches, is just order in a parallel form. I have learned that there needs to be a balance.

During Armageddon, I looked out over the battlefield and saw Earthrealm’s fighters combating the army of the Dragon King, now controlled by the Outworld emperor, Shao Kahn. It may seem childish, but you could almost pick them out against the army by looking at for the pretty colors. There were fighters dressed in military garb, a floating entity clad in red, a warrior with a bandana over their eyes, an apparent blue samurai, a guy with metal arms, and I think I even saw a yellow robot in there. I realized then that Earthrealm was it. Earthrealm was where I was meant to live.

I helped the Forces of Light vanquish the allegedly unstoppable army of the Dragon King, and in the process befriended a female warrior known as Sonya. I personally saved her during the combat, and she was pleased to have me aboard her Special Forces team. Yes, they are a militia, but they are fighting a more disgusting order. Sektor has taken over my new Shangri la with his Tekunin. Earth’s protector, Fujin, informed us of a tournament to take place in Edenia, with the winner having their power primed. I figure I can use this tournament to gain the strength to overthrow Sektor, and free my new home. Or I can use it to take Hotaru’s head, return to Seido and let them know that categorization and organization is futile...decisions, decisions.

Sonya Blade
Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Good
Bio: If Jax did not come into Outworld to save me, I would not be alive. I surely would have been executed by Shao Kahn out of frustration. Well, that is a lie. Johnny Cage probably would have saved me, but it was Jax who saved me, and I owe him everything for that. Unfortunately, he made another sacrifice for me, and he returned to Earthrealm after Sektor left Armageddon prematurely, to make sure he didn’t get up to anything. After fighting for what seemed like days (and probably was), and watching Johnny Cage die, I return to Earthrealm and find Sektor has taken over, with his clan the Tekunin in control of most of the world. It is one emotional sledgehammer after the other.

If Sektor succeeded, that means that Jax must be...damn it! Is this my life: one loss after the other? Daniel to Kano, Johnny Cage to Shang Tsung, and Jax to Sektor, when will it end? When will I get to rest? Kurtis Stryker has joined me, as well as the Seidan who saved my life, Darrius, and I have retained the services of Cyrax. Kurt is more than happy to play the hero, bless him, and Cyrax, human as he has become, is not used to the emotion of fear. I personally am beginning to just look for a way out. Any way out, I just need a break from all of this “saving the world” stuff. Can we really be saving the world when another threat just pops up to replace it? “Delaying the destruction of the world” sounds more appropriate. We don’t even have Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Raiden or Johnny Cage to lead us anymore. I do not have Jax.

Fujin came to me and informed me of a new Mortal Kombat tournament being held in Edenia. At first I was ready to brush him off, but then two things occurred to me. The first was that he had put a barrier around our base, to ensure our safety. I owe Fujin for that. Secondly, I realized he was informing me of the tournament, and not Cyrax, Kurt or Darrius. He is looking at me to step up and lead Earthrealm. If history is a good indicator of what happens to our leaders, I may get my break soon.

And two new characters to balance out my returning characters post:

Pestus
Origin: Seilla
Alignment: Neutral
Bio: I was a prisoner in the jails of Alfera, awakened to find Selphina entering my cell. I thought my execution had come early. I was a terrorist, fighting against the rule of Apox: caught, convicted and sentenced to death. The politics there were not always fair, and I figured they wanted me silenced before any of my followers broke me out. Selphina was not here to take my life, however. She had rather good news for me.

Apox spared my life, and wiped my criminal slate clean, and allowed me placement in his armies. The thought of it disgusted me, but when Selphina told me I would be serving directly under her? I don’t care if she is a witch, she is damn hot. I’d like to serve under her literally, if you catch my drift? She informed me that I would be judged by the Elder Gods upon arrival in their realms. I assume this is why Apox cannot enter the realms this way. Subtlety was never his strong point.

To my understanding, this tournament can be fought until an opponent can no longer fight, or until you take his life. I don’t really like the sounds of it, as I always liked to fight with strategy, as capable as I am in open combat. This might be my only chance for a new life, however. I have a lover back in my realm, and friends, and family. I have a life I need to get back to. Winning this tournament, hell, just surviving it, is all I need to do to get that back.

Famen
Origin: Alfera
Alignment: Good
Bio: I was once poised to be Selphina’s lover. That was before Apox took over Alfera, and our lives were turned on their heads. He took our realms fast and hard, and our forces quickly fell. Our greatest general, Vor, surrendered without much resistance, and converted to Apox’s beliefs. To my horror, Selphina left me to join Apox, as well. I may have loved her, and I used to think that this love was the most powerful feeling I had ever felt, but I find it impossible to choose her over what is right, and that is fighting against Apox and his rule over our realms.

Selphina approached me some time ago, and she presented me with an offer, however. She offered me herself in exchange for my services. I would not have to join Apox; I would just fight in a tournament for her. She was always a thinker rather than a fighter, as was I, but I know a lot about martial arts from my training since birth. She was encouraged by her father into sorcery, and I was raised as the child of two martial arts masters. We grew up together; both forced to develop our talents very early, excelling in our separate areas. I remember teaching her some moves, and in return being taught some of her magic. It makes sense that she would turn to me when she needed a martial arts tournament won.

Selphina promises me that the tournament’s prize will give the winner so much power that it may be possible to overthrow Apox, and we can live together again. I knew she could not have been evil. She just did what she needed to do to grow in power without Apox killing her. Now she has found a way to defeat him. Soon we will be together again, and we can settle down like it looked like we would be doing before this tyranny interrupted. During this tournament, I might also get the chance to make Vor regret his betrayal.

Some exposition on the new characters. Saturai is a male Edenian warrior, who does not dress in the ninja garb, but rather in more traditional armor-based attire. His primary costume would be the silver armor he wore into battle during Armageddon. His second attire would be the black and gold that now represents the elite Edenian guard.

It should also be noted that I'd change Mileena's appearance, heavily. Now that he has beauty, I'd have Mileena show her face. She also sheds the purple theme, and goes with a dark, yet regal, theme. Black would definitely be a part of it. I'm tossing up whether gold or red should be secondary, but there would probably be elements of both on her costume. Saturai would take up these colors on his tournament armor.

Ellira is a female Edenian warrior, and while she would not be a ninja clone, she would wear the traditional female garbs of Edenia. She would also have silver armor as a secondary costume, like what Saturai wore into battle. I'd give Ellira red or orange as a base color for her design. Her character is more enlightened to what is going on, whereas Saturai is a bit spacey about things. Perhaps he is just too proud to believe he is sleeping with the enemy?

Pestus would replace Baraka, in a way. He would not be a clone, but his weapon style would be blades which protrude from his wrists. He belongs to the realm of Seilla, which has a lot of insect influences. Pestus has wings on his back, which enable some aerial special moves, and his face looks like a war mask painted on to look like a locust. He's a very dark and mysterious character in image, but in personality, he is just a pawn for this round...or is he?

Famen became something completely different to what I originally had in mind for him. I had a cloaked figure, originally, with no skin, but rather consisting of sand and fire. His character will probably retain these qualities, though, and the brown cloak will probably become a symbol of him in my games. He is a martial arts genius, and when you take a look at him, it becomes apparent that Selphina would have nothing to do with him, partially because they are of a different species. Famen is a honorable young chap, and he wants nothing more than to free the realm he loves, and the woman he loves, from Apox's control.

These images will not be completely correct, but seeing as I cannot draw, I think I need to aid a little bit in describing these guys physically, by pointing out something which they kind of look like. With Pestus, star with Waspinator from Beast Wars in the Transformers universe, and then of course remove the robot elements, gives him Baraka's blades, and give him dark garments and a more competent attitude. When I picture Famen, I end up with a sand elemental version of Dr. Doom, if that makes sense? That is mainly Famen's face, though, and there are certainly traces of humanity in his existence.

Fujin and Taven would both return with new looks, as they have their new roles. Fujin would be done up to look more important, and Taven would also have a more God-like look to him. Sektor and Cyrax have slight changes, as well. Sektor includes the color gold in his color scheme, and he wears the Tekunin symbol on his chest. Basically his armor is just more detailed and self-righteous. The usual yellow on Cyrax's design would be replaced with a khaki-based in Illusion. It seems a little cheesy, but if I were the Special Forces, I don't think I would paint my robot assassin bright yellow. It just seems a United States thing to do to make him camouflaged. I'd maybe even cut a bit of Cyrax's helmet, so it shows his mouth, or something, which makes his communication more human. The guy has meant to have regained his soul, so I think his appearance should reflect that, a little.

Selphina, as has already been picked up on, is kind of the Shang Tsung of this game, but she has her twists in store for her. She is less evil than Tsung, and more apathetic. She is deceptively powerful for a girl her age, and her costume rides the line between classy and sexy, as a confident girl with bits of evil, yet self-righteousness mixed in. Elegant, yet skanky, is probably the best way to describe her. She carries a staff with her at all times, and she wears something around her neck, It appears to be a soul in some kind of container, and her weapon style would actually feature her swinging it around on its chain, and using her staff at the same time. It's kind of a dual-act.

I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to doing a reply to this sooner, but here goes.

Main story

I must say that it's an interesting and unique concept for MK and potentially leads to answering certain questions regarding the Elder Gods themselves and maybe even the One Being. One thing I found very bizarre was the description of Sindel as being quite vain. You may have to explain that one to me. Also, I hope to see something very unique when it comes to the whole Selphina/Apox thing, especially the goals of Apox himself.

Now for the bios...

Mileena: I'm not sure on the whole face switching thing, but the real problem I have lies within how its done. I think it would've worked better had the switching be a result of the energy released from Blaze's death. Also, I'm not sure on the Saturai character. Personally, I see Mileena ruling Edenia by herself unless she has someone that can she can truly benefit from. Overall, her goals are pretty good and it's a decent bio. I do like that you have a more regal look in mind for Mileena instead of sticking with the female ninja-ish look.

Fujin: Technically, Fujin has been the Protector God of Earthrealm since the end of MK4, but this bio makes it sound like he began his duties after Armageddon, which is very strange. I don't know about the whole destroying each others' souls thing. I don't know if Fujin protecting those areas is something that would be done through inspiration from Raiden. Raiden has more of that whole Magneto thing going on, taking an aggressive and extremist approach to protecting Earthrealm. But again, his goals for the tournament are pretty decent.

Taven: I thought Daegon was corrupted by his premature awakening along with influence from Shinnok. confused I'm not sure about his goal to stop his brother's suffering. What about the status of the realms after Armageddon? Were things fixed? Did things get worse or not really change much at all?

Sektor: I'm not sure on the idea of Sektor viewing himself as a slave to the Lin Kuei. I personally got the impression that he was very loyal to the clan, hence why he had no problems going through the automation process in the first place.

I think the mind duplication thing would work better if it happened a bit before or after Armageddon. Because if he did that during the time of MKDA and MKD, he would be a far bigger threat when you get to the post-MKD/pre-MKA story.

Overall, I do like that he is stepping up into more of the mid-level villain role.

Saturai: I don't know if I like the idea of having certain groups such as the Edenian forces and the Tarkata actually fight in the Edenian crater during Armageddon.

I kind of like the bits with Ellira, but I don't think the sleeping together with "Kitana" bit should be mentioned.

Overall, he's an ok addition. I currently don't care for him too much, but maybe you'll do something with him that'll make me grow to like him.

Cyrax: I'm sure that Sektor and Cyrax would not call each other by their codenames. Well, ok, maybe Sektor might call Cyrax by his codename, but I don't like the idea of Cyrax calling Sektor by his.

It's kind of strange having Darrius involved with the Special Forces considering he is a rebel in his realm of Seido. Also, I don't like the last line.

But still, Cyrax's bio isn't bad. I just don't care much for the whole Special Forces story arc. The look design sounds kind of ok...but the whole mouth showing thing really really gives him that Robocop feel. If you were to go with a new color scheme for him, maybe you should really revamp his cyborg design altogether.

Ellira: It's a bit of an interesting dynamic between her and Saturai and that she's trying to make things right. However, there are some things that puzzle me. I don't like the idea of her wearing the whole swimsuit type outfit. I think the armored look idea sounds much better.

Given the way the bio is written, it seems that "Kitana" takes an interest in Saturai before Queen Sindel dies and that he is going to be made the new King, which doesn't make sense to me. I would think that he would become a prince instead.

I'm wondering why Ellira should just believe what the sorcerer is saying. Wouldn't she try to get some proof or is her jealousy deluding her?

Darrius: It's a very weird bio, and I'm not sure if I really like the story direction that's been taken with him. It just seems almost out of character. I don't know...

Sonya: I can see Sonya getting sick and tired of the fighting, but at the same time, I still see her sticking to her duty. One thing I didn't like about this bio is the way it was worded. Something about it was off.

Pestus: What a funky character...lol. The whole thing with Selphina comes off very....goofy. I mean, ok, if you're going to have Selphina be hot, great, excellent, all that good stuff. However, for Pestus to have this kind of thing for her just because she's hot is kind of shallow and stupid of him, unless that's what you're trying to go for with his character. For his blades, since he comes from Seilla, a realm of insectioid-human-like creatures, why not have Praying Mantis type blade weapons? For his face and body, will he be mostly human-like? Is he wearing a mask or does his face look like a locust? I didn't quite understand the face part. Overall, very weird...very funky...*shrugs*

Famen: I actually kind of like this one. It sounds pretty good, and I like the connection and backstory to Selphina. So far, he's my favorite of the new characters. I'm going to hold my reservations for Selphina as I'm sure you'll do a bio for her later...at least I hope so. What I don't understand is why Famen is a different species from Selphina when they are from the same realm. Is it kind of like Outworld in that there are different species or something? The sand and fire type skin thing is strange, but still, I kind of like the character anyway.

Selphina's appearance and character description are kind of interesting. The classy and elegant but sexy and skanky doesn't sound too bad. Do you think you can find examples to compare it to? You describe her as a girl, which is a bit odd. So you're saying she has a more youthful appearance instead of grown up? What bits of evil make up her character exactly or will you be saving that for her bio?

Overall, I know I sound very critical, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents on some things. I do think that certain story concepts are kind of nice while others baffle me. But still, I would like to see more of what you have in store.

Thanks for the feedback, Sub. There are a lot of unanswered questions, as I've tried to be kind of vague to save some developments for the endings. Just to address some of your points, because I know you are looking for answers:

Mileena: It was not Sindel that is the ridiculously vain Queen of Edenia, but Mileena. It is implied in her bio that all it took to get rid of Sindel was a little "accident." I was trying to suggest Mileena murdered Sindel, but I think that was kind of lost. The whole story involving her and Saturai is that Mileena has now been given beauty (and there is a reason for that, which will be explained later in her story), and it's given her a boost in confidence. She is a new woman now that she has the appearance of a beautiful Edenian Princess (now a Queen), and she wants to show it off. Saturai is a great Edenian warrior, and the Tarkatan blood in her lusts for it the same way as she did after Baraka. Mileena is still an animal, but she now has the conscious gift of beauty, and she wants to feel reassured of it.

Sindel was murdered shortly after Armageddon, with "Kitana" then becoming Queen, and passing Sindel's death off as injuries sustained from the battles. She wants a King merely to satisfy her animal urges.

Cyrax: I actually had Sektor's official Lin Kuei name down, originally, but decided to change it, just to show that Cyrax has control over his humanity, and is trying to distance himself from the Lin Kuei and Sektor. His costume change was originally just going to be a more appropriate color-scheme, but I thought that people might want to see something completely different with some of their returning characters, just to update them and make them seem more "real" (if that's the right word). I figured the mouth showing would be appropriate, as it would allow Cyrax to communicate effectively as a human, which the awoken soul in him would probably appreciate, rather than a muffled cybernetic voice.

As for Sektor, I also interpreted him as loyal to the Lin Kuei, but with the Tekunin, and his grasp of power, I've decided to make him more arrogant. His character is certainly evil and corrupt, despite not having a soul to be corrupt, and his look back as a "slave" during his Lin Kuei days is retrospective. At the time, he was happy to serve his Grandmasters, but now he sees himself as the ultimate.

The Tekunin's occupation of Earth gives a lot of Earthrealm's forces a reason to fight in the tournament. It was established in Armageddon that Sektor had already made a grasp, but my slight on the story is that Sektor realized Earth's forces were distracted, and took the opportunity to further his iron grip (pun intended) on the realm.

Fujin: He's been protector of Earthrealm since MK4, true, but Raiden then sacrificed his status as an Elder God, and fought against the Deadly Alliance. During that time, Fujin would probably have technically been guardian, but psychologically, I think Fujin would have been intimidated, in a way, by Raiden's direct leadership. I'm making the character seem a little weak, but the MK Team has never really given him a chance. There will be a time when Fujin learns that perhaps being more reserved, and less of a loose cannon was more beneficial to the human race. Fujin's quip about not being guardian as he returns to Earthrealm and finds it completely under Tekunin control, is because Earth no longer has Raiden to act brashly, and they need someone else to step in.

I figured that protecting Earth's warriors was EXACTLY what Raiden would do, no disrespect (you're one of my favourite posters here). It was pretty much the plot of MK3. Shao Kahn invaded, and as a move of desperation, Raiden protected the souls of certain Earth warriors. That's, in essence, what Fujin is doing, only he is trying to protect their lives. Raiden did go a little loopy, but Fujin sees deliberation in that madness. Instead of making him the good one, and Raiden the bad one, Fujin sees that sometimes the Elder Gods are too reserved about getting involved. Raiden sacrificed his immortality to fight alongside humans, and gave his very essence to save the realms, even if he was a nutjob. Fujin takes this in stride, because he's kind of a Raiden fanboy, although it may not last.

As for Raiden and Shinnok destroying each other? Let's just say that this is how Fujin perceives it. Raiden and Shinnok may or may not be completely dead.

Darrius: I'm actually really proud of Darrius' story, as I feel it is a major change for him, but it fits. Sure, he's a little different than the chaos driven extremist that he once was, and that still sleeps in him, but Darrius is beginning to learn that there is a balance. He hates total order, like that instituted in Seido and by the Tekunin in Earthrealm. He wants to fight against these orders. He has no problem aligning with rebel militia (which he was kind of a part of, anyway) to take out these more stable forces. Darrius is mainly returning, because I wanted to challenge myself and include the MK Team's favourite characters, and the ones they have said they'd like to return (Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Darrius, Jax...there's a hint for you, etc.), and I think this is a better way of doing it than "Hey, I'm Darrius, I'm a terrorist in a realm that has no bearing to your's." I'm really trying to flesh out what makes Darrius tick. He is not a good man, nor do I consider him the essence of evil. I think there is a balance there, but it needs to be found.

Ellira: The swimsuit look is not my favourite, either, but I think it would make her more identifiable from the start. I'm learning towards the armor, though. The classic ninja look would be an alt, just to give her a retro feel, despite being new. It could be interpreted as a tribute to Jade and even Kitana. The second costume should also be different from the first. I'd go with a more...organic look to it, though. Make it look homemade, rather than some kind of costume designed by perverts with computer rendering skills. She should be wearing the costume for a reason.

As for why she trusts this sorcerer? That was an issue I had writing it, and I wanted to go into depth, but I also didn't want to throw it out there so early. Let me just say this: It's a little of both. Ellira has her reasons for trusting this guy, but she is somewhat fueled by her jealousy, even if she doesn't want to admit it.

Pestus: A bit of a creep, but he's fully intended that way. :P There are a race of insect-like beings in Seilla, but Pestus is not one of them. He wears a mask as kind of a symbol, saying "I'm just as dangerous as you." There is a lot of depth to his character, but that will be revealed in his ending, and later installments.

Good idea about the praying mantis blades. Very good idea. The blades aren't actually natural, so I might give him that as an alternate costume. I envision his second costume to be less bulky, and designed for mobility, and I think the curved blades would suit him well in that style.

Famen: I originally had the different race idea for Famen, when his character premise was a little more one-dimensional ("invader from another universe"). I have since decided to give him more reason, and he's kind of a sensitive type, fighting for good and the love he has for Selphina. Of course, being as different as he is, Selphina would never want anything to do with him. He thinks he was close to Selphina, and two were childhood friends/close during their youth, but that's about as far as it goes. He's a good soul, though, and as whipped he is by Selphina, he will stand against her if it means the slavery of all existence. His appearance as it stands, is cliche, designed to make a physical relationship between him and Selphina impossible, which turns Selphina off, but illustrate Famen doesn't care if that kind of sensuality is impossible, and is thus "deeper," but there will be more to him than that. His race, and their role in Selphina's realm, will all be told through Famen, as he becomes a more prominent character. I'm really glad you liked him.

Regarding Mileena, good stuff. I should've caught onto the reference being made to Mileena. I can definitely see Mileena being the dominant one in bed, lol.

As much as I would personally want Sindel to live, the way you did this story arc here is actually pretty nice. So yeah, Saturai seems to be her boy toy, not that he's complaining. :-p

I understand what you mean regarding the color scheme idea, but like I said, if you're going for that, I think his costume overall will need some revamping. It would probably be better just to have Cyrax show his face as having just an opening for the mouth really does give him that Robocop feel. *shrugs*

I kind of see what you're saying regarding Sektor and the Tekunin. In a way, it's good in a sense that it steps him up as a villain.

I guess the reason why they didn't give Fujin much of a chance has to do with MKDA and MKD taking place more in Outworld, especially MKD, with the threat of Onaga and his forces. The thing is, since we haven't seen much of Fujin, we don't get much of a real idea in terms of his personality. I can sort of understand what you're getting at with Fujin still having some respect for Raiden in his determination to protect Earthrealm. However, Fujin would and should still be concerned about Raiden's extremism, not agreeing with it, especially with Raiden no longer trusting mortals.

Regarding Shinnok, it still must be kept in mind that the real Shinnok is still in the Netherrealm.

Well, I get the impression that Darrius simply wanted to establish a new order in Seido, one different from the oppressive kind that the Seidan government has been enforcing for so long. So yeah, even though he does use chaotic methods, he still wants to establish a different kind of order. Darrius led the Resistance and probably even created it too.

Personally, I would lean more towards the armor as well. There's no real need to give her the swimsuit. She can be identifiable with a more unique look. If you want to go for a ninja-ish look, then maybe you should draw influences from Japanese armor, namely historical Ninja Yoroi, things like that. It's not easy, but if done right, you coud come up with something neat. Well, I would like to see how the whole sorcerer thing unfolds.

So is Pestus a humanoid-type character who simply dresses up like one of those creatures then? Maybe he can use one of the Northern Praying Mantis styles as his fighting style.

I guess I'll just have to wait and learn more about Famen's people and stuff. It's kind of interesting. I look forward to more of your story, and I hope you get to my PM soon.

Thanks for the feedback, SZ7, I appreciate the constructive criticism and compliments.

Don't lose too much sleep over Sindel. While she might be dead (again), she's not the type to just take her daughter's clone sitting on her throne lightly. There might not be much she can do, but if she can do it, she will.

I'm glad you came to on the Mileena/Saturai thing. What is going to be interesting for me to write is the development when Saturai discovers that "Kitana" isn't really Kitana. Does he feel dirty? Is his allegiance with the Edenian hierarchy, or Edenia. Will he want Kitana to take back her throne, or will he convince himself that being a King with Mileena will be worth it. He won't need to go evil for this to happen, but he can convince himself that being in a position of power would allow him to do some good for the realm he loves.

I agree with the Cyrax thing. I never really liked his MK:DA alternate costume, but if they had him without any kind of helmet in a new form, I think I would be able to tolerate it. Even grow to like it. I'm not opposed to changing him so he doesn't look so much like Robocop. That's a good idea, haha, lest Cyrax become a joke character under my reign. I'd go with a more updated version of his current look, personally, with his alt costume removing the helmet. I'd even go as far as to have little details on his armor like "R.I.P. Major Jackson Briggs" scratched into it. I just want players to feel like they can reach out and feel the characters.

I had actually forgotten that the real Shinnok is in the Netherrealm, but that actually works back to my advantage.

Pestus is kind of a mystery at the moment, but I want there to be kind of a discovery with him. He's humanoid, but he has wings, which enable him aerial combat (my game would restrict aerial combat to characters with flying capabilities). Basically picture Baraka, only if Baraka was not really a Tarkatan, but wore a mask to represent the Tarkatan race. Replace Tarkatan with "insect" and you have Pestus down in a nutshell, pretty much, only their personalities are quite different, as you will soon discover. Pestus isn't exactly reserved in his opinions of women, though.

By the way, as for Selphina, she's young in the sense that Li Mei is young. She's not a child, but her hair isn't exactly graying. A question I hope to raise with her is just how apathetic she is, just how evil she is, and if there could even be some good in her. She's VERY gifted for her age, and I'm trying to go with a "sorcery genius" thing with her.

Interesting stuff on Saturai. It does make me begin to appreciate him some more.

Cyrax is kind of a tricky character to do, namely because we kind of have the least amount of insight into him out of the three cyborgs. With Sektor, we know that he was the very loyal and zealous member of the Lin Kuei, who whole-heartedly did the automation process while Smoke flat out refused. But with Cyrax, we don't really get an idea of how he felt, so I guess it can be assumed that out of loyalty, he went along with it, but not to the extreme loyalty that Sektor seems to have had. Maybe you can sort of pull somewhat of a Transformers movie influence with the standard mode/battle mode thing, in which Cyrax's standard mode would show his face, and then there'd be kind of a flip on transformation thing with his mask, sort of like with Bumblebee.

I can't wait to see what you got planned for Mr. Pope on Acid...I mean Shinnok...tongue

Pestus does sound a bit interesting. So he's basically a very lecherous character who is fighting against the evil of Apox.

So in a physical sense, Selphina is kind of late teen/early 20ish type age? Hmm, interesting. And she's a prodigy in sorcery with a bit of an apathetic mentality.
