MORTAL KOMBAT GENESIS

(As narrated by Taven.)

Through the chaos, I approached the top of the pyramid, defending myself from the continuous onslaught of warriors, all wishing to reach the destination before me. My objective was the burning, bright menace that stood at the peak, encouraging me to battle anyone in my way. The fate of the realms depended on me arriving at Blaze first; let an unpredicted result occur from an opponent’s victory, and a catastrophic effect could ensue. Punching, kicking, slashing, letting out all my energy upon my foes – those ignorant enough to approach me. Finally, I stood at the summit of my father’s structure. Time froze everything around us, leaving just Blaze and I in the greatest struggle of Mortal Kombat.

(A FMV plays of Taven making his way up the pyramid, fighting random characters; all are being knocked back by his strength and determination.)

The engagement was a brutal one; Blaze’s mass and sheer might provided me a harsh beating. Yet in the end, I emerged the conqueror. I waited for one of two results – either the warriors would be stripped of their abilities, or they would be destroyed completely. However, to my surprise, as well as everyone else’s, an unforeseen third effect presented itself. Blaze’s essence was distributed to each warrior on the battlefield, power growing beyond imagination. As my father had told me, I ascended to Elder God status. Forced to watch the carnage below, I witnessed complete and utter destruction. They continued to wage war on each other, their increased abilities destroying everything in their vicinity.

(The FMV continues, showing Taven defeating Blaze. The beasts’ essence is distributed to everyone, our hero ascending to the Heavens. The warriors continue to fight, demolishing everything in their path.)

An extreme amount of energy was building up, yielding unstable results. Suddenly, the pyramid began to rumble. All contestants around it halted, looking at the structure. A huge blast rocked, the area, a blinding light filled the grounds. In a dramatic display of events, the pyramid exploded, killing many of the fighters. That was not the only result though – one worse than anything perceived also happened. The amount of energy that was released was not permitted by the Gods, and for a very good reason. It disrupted the integral fabric of the realms, causing the them to be ruptured into an undistinguishable wreck.

(Scenes of the pyramid, its surroundings, and all the realms being destroyed into an unrecognizable mess.)

Now with the realms in such an un-protectable state, it is possible for any threat to take them over. In this extreme case, even the Gods must interfere in order to keep the stability that once existed. I will lead my fellow Elders into battle necessary to protect the innocents. I will restore this burden that I have created, in my parents error, in humanity’s error, for letting this cataclysm happen.

(The end of the FMV rolls, showing the results of the catastrophe, and Taven at the head of a group of Elder Gods.)

Gameplay Modes

1. Arcade Mode – The basic mode of MKG, as in past games you fight your way through a series of opponents to the final boss. It also reveals story elements of each character through mini-cut scenes before and after vital battles. Endings (true endings, no what-if bull) are also revealed. Currency is also earned.

2. Kumite Mode – In this mode you fight against different ranked opponents, which builds up your level as you progress. This effects online play in who you can fight against, and also earns you currency.

3. Endurance Mode – A mode that pits you against an endless number of opponents. You gain a small amount of health each match until you are finally defeated. Currency is earned depending on how far you go. This can also be played with two players.

4. Time Attack Mode – A mode that you fight through a number of competitors in a limited time frame. The further you get, the better the prize. Currency is also earned.

5. Versus Mode – Play against the game or an opponent in a single, one on one match. There is an option to also create a team of up to ten characters on each side, as well as a tag team option. The victor earns currency for the defeat of opponents.

6. Practice Mode – Allows you to test your fighting skills with options such as defending, opposition, and moves list inputs. Can be played with a second player.

7. Mortal Kombat Online – Play against people from all over the world with an improved online experience. Earn currency when fighting against opponents.

8. Kreate-A-Character – Allows you to deeply customize your own personal character with multiple character slots. It also allows limited customization of regular characters.

10. The Krypt – This allows you to purchase items with currency you’ve earned and unlock secrets. It will be as large as large as Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance’s Krypt, but with items worth unlocking.

11. Kontent – View everything that you have unlocked through the Krypt, plus endings and other extras.

12. Options – Allows you to set different game options such as difficulty, fight time, blood level, etc. You can also control your profile from here.

When there are 60 great characters (Meat, Chameleon not included from the 62), then why should one of those other great characters with storylines have to die just so that these joke characters make it in? It makes no sense.

Now Sheeva dying, that is just dispicable!... tongue

This incident really had nothing to with smarts... this explosion crippled the realms, and only lucked saved the survivors. But he could make a return in another form (one of the souls that comprised him formerly).
