I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about this yet, or I failed to see it.

Anyway, one of the things I really like about MKX is the stages/arenas that I've seen so far. They are dynamic, vibrant, colorful, and they're just very, very well done. The ability of interacting with the stages Injustice style also has me very intrigued, and it really makes the gameplay seem faster and adds another level of depth to the gameplay.

Out of all three, I'm really digging The Outworld Marketplace the most. It's original, it's an interesting concept, and it's set in Outworld - but not your traditional dark and gloomy Outworld, but there's sun and it has people. It gives Outworld.. life. Sort of reminds me of that small village in MK:D's Konquest that you can explore in Outworld. And how can you not love Blanche!

In terms of returning stages that I'd like to see:

- The Pit
- The Deadpool
- The Courtyard (or a different take on it)
- The Tower (loved that moon in MK3)

Aside from these four, I'm all open to any arena they'll throw at us. By what we've seen so far, I'm certain NRS will make some memorable stages.

Discuss and speculate!

I'm not really agreeing with you calling them vibrant and colourful. So far, the three stages we've seen are indeed beautiful, but colourful? I wouldn't say that. They have the case of the dark and browns...

Ed Boon stated that he most likely will just put newer stages on this version because of the futuristic world for the next gen consoles. He might add a newer stage that might resemble one of the older ones. I like the way Ed Boon is doing with the stages so far.

It's all about the Snow Forest. It's snowing, there's a wolf in the background, and the shadows from the trees are beautiful. It's very simple but it looks so good.

The only stage I really want to return is the Wu Shi Academy. And some reimagined MK4 stages.

I don't mean colorful as MVC3 colorful, but rather the colors of each arena are showcased well. Such as in the Snow Forest, yeah it's dark, but the different shades of black, blue, and grey are well done. Get me?

And vibrant as in there's lot going on in each stage. The Cove - its pretty crazy with the waves, the ship, the bodies. Marketplace - the people watching, blanche, the tigers, that background. It feels vibrant.

The Cove, while it's a great looking stage, reminds me a lot of the Spinal stage in de new Killer Instinct.
Outworld Marketplace looks something out of Star Wars. And too many "regular" people in there. All the "animals" there are some kind of creature, yet the rest seem people like you and me. Shouldn't there be some Shokans, Tarkatans or Centaurs running around?
The Forest I like. Good replacement for the Living Forest. Looks creepy enough (if something would be lurking around) and great with the lighting.

I like "The Wheel of Pain" in the background of the Marketplace. I can't be sure, but I think it's a reference to Conan the Barbarian.

I can't wait to see "The Prison" from MK4/Mythologies back in this game, I can't imagine how the fan fatality would look :D
also that stage had the most epic soundtrack I've heard.

I'd like to see a new version of the Armory with weapon interactables that you can pick up. It always kinda bothered me that in MK2, we had all these weapons just lying around and no one was willing to pick one up.
Ying Yang Stage.

With Coconut/Skull interactables and Swing interactibles on the Palm Trees/Snakes.

Why the hell is he digging graves?

I do concur that the graveyard should return, if only to see the names of warriors past.

I want that damn Netherrealm Prison to show up. It's every appearance has been memorable and since it's 2D again, it could resemble the version from MK Mythologies more. That place is just awesome!!!!

One of the best stages from the new era, a really cool concept.

On that note, I wouldn't mind seeing something of a Nexus type of arena return.

I hope to see a stage called the vortex that has a stage fatalitly. The opponent would be getting sucked into a vortex and exploding.

I started a thread on this the first day of E3, was very surprised how little posts were in it. Some good discussion points were brought up though, including the origin of the shipwreck and its passengers. They appear to be saurian, which could point to a newly developed storyline for reptile. When you grab the bodies that wash up on the map and chuck them at the opponent they bleed green, in addition to the obvious green skin and lizard-like feet and hands.

The graveyard, with a stage fatality where the loser gets buried alive. Tombstones and shovels should be usable as weapons.

The waterfront, with a stage fatality where the winner drowns the loser.

The MK3 version of the street, with the dumpster as a usable weapon, and a special kind of non-lethal stage ality where the winner throws the loser in that dumpster, provided it wasn't used as a weapon and destroyed.

Jade's desert, with a stage fatality involving moving sands. Or all the opponent's limbs being broken, or half buried like Cyrax, and left to die in the desert. Hell, why not all three?

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it in here too.
So I think it would be kool if we have arena super near to the Earth's core.
Near as you can pit fatality your opponent in it grin
The view would be insane!

...did you not play MK9? It has The Graveyard, The Street, and The Desert, I doubt they're gonna spend time making any 2.0 versions so those are as close as you'll get.

As far as new stages, as long as there's one where we see a bunch of fighters in the background (like an Armageddon type scene) and then also that Wind World/Rain stage in MK4 because that track was amaze that needs to be recreated

I don't want "remakes" of older stages. I've seen them enough. The only stage i want to see again is Shang Tsungs Garden at night.

I want new stages. Introducing the realm they are. Give them a unique view of the culture.

The stages i've seen so far remind me of The MKDA ones. Not because i think that they look anything like the ones from DA but because there seems to be less of a depressing or totally grey feeling about them. DA was a dark game in terms of feel. But they've added such an element of life through the lights of their stages i thought they were for the most part beautiful. MKX seems to be going that way, with an effort put forth into making them dark but alive.
