Tweeted out the video to NRS employees (32 that I know).

If NRS is open to this, their games will only become better. Thanks MKHYPE

While I can agree with this video completely, I don't pay attention to that shit when I'm playing.
I'd rather this be the last thing NRS focuses on, to be honest.

This. I would much rather them keep up with the netcode, tournament functionality, getting rid of bland & shitty rosters, keeping up with good character designs, better story & plotting, ect, ect, ect.

Really? Doesn't it also make the characters, and while the game is focused on fighting, the combat look alot better? Maybe we differ as why we like fighting games, but to me MK was the cool looking fighter with incredible environments, characters and backstory.
I am a big fan of story based games but visuals come to play to. Especially in fighting games, where fighting is the main thing. I see no reason to not mind the combat while it's a combat based game. Im not saying MK is only about the combat, but that's what were looking at 90% of the time while playing MK.

Are you fucking kidding me? Are you going to sit there and try to convince me that, besides a handful of anal animators and yourself, people pay attention to those minute details when all the action is happening? I mean honestly, the guy had to slow down the video and zoom in on the mistakes to make his whining obvious. Who the fuck's doing that in the middle playing a game at 60 FPS?
Like I said... MK needs more attention in other areas... perfecting human animation should be at the bottom of the list.

NRS is still like the special olympics in 3D animation + models compared to japanese fighting games. They really should do better as the only american fighting series in the gaming world (besides Killer Instinct)

The video raises some really good issues. In past games these things have been around, but i think they're either more prevalent or more noticeable in MKX (because better graphics etc).
The creator also has a point about the fact that this is big-budget, and shouldn't be making quite so many animation-based errors.
There are so many things that MK gets right, though. It doesn't really get shown all the positive stuff, but i guess that's not his point.

Im not sure why it's so noticable in MKx. The animations didn't bother me as much in MK9 as with MKx. It could because Hector Sanches left NRS. He's title was art + design. He was the producer for MK9 after all. Could be he had some sayings on the animations too. Idk who did the 3D era games.
Unfortunate that Hector Sanches left NRS. He did a good job with MK9.

I agree on some points, but I disagree on:
-fighting stance: they are a very unique trademark of the NRS Games, you can like them or not, but not only they have improved over the past years (seriously, watch some fighting stances from MK 4 and Deadly Alliance), but they are kinda pointless...who's gonna lose time watching their characters standing idle by?
-the frame count: it is a necessary evil when your gameplay is based on juggles. No other fighting game (except maybe for Killer Instinct) puts the stress on juggles as MK. You have to cut frames here and there to allow hits to connect one after the other.
- x-ray and fatalities: they have to be exaggerated and over the top. Many people are obsessed with realism. Just enjoy the exaggeration.
So far, MK is the only franchise where hits actually sends the players the real sensation of pain.
When you hit your opponent you can see blood, bruises, missing teeth, etc.
In Tekken, Street Fighter, etc you only flashy lights, gas, light effects, ecc. And thi si made possibile only due to the uniqueness of NRS fighting games.
Personally, the only animations I'd change are the crouching low kicks, because they look too stupid.
But for the rest, i disagree.

The stances look rather weak and random .

The X-rays don't need to be over the top, id rather see them look painful with alot of impact. Nothing to do with realism. Fatality's being brutal and fitting that character should be good enough.

Cuts and bruises are ok. Nothing required imo. But fitting MK as the characters use alot of weapons.
