I've been hearing a lot of things on this site that mk9 might be a remake of the first mortal kombat game and then I heard that it will not be an M rated game but a E-10 rated game? What the hell is E-10 mean? Can any of you clear this up with me? Is there going to be a mortal kombat 9 with blood and guts or will it be a stupid remake? I know Ed Boon has said that he want's the game to have more blood and more falaties in it.
To be or not to be. That is the true mortal kombat question.

I'm pretty sure the "E-10" (means "Everyone over 10", by the way) was an April Fools joke.
Don't worry about it, the next MK will have blood guts and gore.

I want to see Mortal Kombat 8 and have it be the continuation of the current canon.

There is no way that this is a re immagining or a remake.

Usually we get these hunches based on how deep we dig for information. It just wouldnt fit the present situation. If I am wrong. Feel free to shove it in my face.

Im saying no with about 95% confidence based on what weve heard so far from boons twitter. Theres been nothing to suggest so. Boon expects us to be pleased with the cast. Even a re-immagening cant have too many more characters that the original.

Im NOT ok with 7-12 characters....

I am expecting a cast of 20+ With enough depth to please us all. well not all, or else wed have MKA all over again... too many characters is bad. And with the online plans for this game seemingly transparent. We know they wouldnt jump into something like this with a small roster of 7-12. They want to be sure.

And for the simple fact that. We have not had any closure to the canon story. To drop and just start over without either killing everybody or having a final chapter (In any media form) just would be a slap in the face to all of us that have followed for years.

Should we receive closure of any sort. Id be open to a re-immagining. But until then i wanna burn this flame out.

I am not okay with a giant cast. Anything over 20 characters is too much for me.

I could really care less if it's a continuation from a previous game, a remake, or something completely new. As long as it's a freaking Mortal Kombat game, I could care less what it is.

Those are casting notes for the Shaolin Monks sequel that unfortunately got scrapped. Don't have a date on hand, but I wanna say they surfaced around October/November. Someone else can correct me on that.

Don't get me wrong, though. Without proper context, I can understand why you would perceive that as reboot evidence.

True. But embargo or not, Boon came clean with the Shaolin Monks sequel cancellation, so it's development is at the very least is confirmed.

Everyone knows by now that I'm not wild about the reboot idea, and I would still say it's unlikely. Then again, I thought an MK versus DC was about as likely as getting struck by lightning during a shark attack, and we know how that turned out.

MK Deceptions roster size was PERFECT. 24 characters is a decent yet select number of fighters. there were 22 in mkvs dc and look how well they pulled off so much of it.

With the engine going onto MK9 I would presume. Il bet there are at least 20. It can be done with the resources AND time. And it will be great.

I want a reboot; it's time to stop beating a dead horse and create fresh perspectives on these classic characters.

That was an interesting link; I had never seen that before.

I think that just adds more fuel to the reboot fire. Temp, I know you say that was for Shaolin Monks 2, but at the top it states MK9. I don't know the legitimacy of this, but you never know...

That looks like it's based on MK3...which would support a Shaolin Monks 2.

the characters I see listed are Jade, Sektor, Nightwolf, Cyrax, Kung Lao and Jax. Interesting that it gives character ages for all of them.

I agree to a point...whatever they wind up doing, we're all gonna wind up buying the damned thing anyways...hahaha...

I would however like to see a fantastic story with great characters. Not too-too many characters...I would say an even 12 with 3 hidden characters like in MK2...I thought that worked out perfectly...

Wait Wiat WAIT a minute.

OK Temp. I really wanna believe you but this isnt right. The cancelled MKSM2 game that we all talked about was sub-titled "Fire and Ice" and it revolved around scorpiona nd subzero.

Ther hero in this game being cast is clearly Kung Lao.

If this game is about scorpion and subzero, there no way Kung Lao ends up being the hero aka Liu Kang is nowhere to be seen. And the fact that the article sais MK9 means its being refferred to in the mainstream chronological order of things.

We all know MKSM was not part of this chronological listing as MKDA, MKD, MKA and MKDC were 5,6,7 and 8. and this being 9.

I dont know if this is still the direction they are going with all the reboot rumors. But there are 3 major pieces of evidence to support this Not being MKFI like we thought. Even if the article claims to be an "Adventure". This could simply mean a story mode. Damn im losing my mind over this.

If Shaolin Monks isn't included in the chronological listing, then shouldn't MK vs DC not be in there too?

I'd have to say that the only reason Shaolin Monks is not included in the chronological order of games is because it's an adventure game and not a fighting game. It seems only the fighters carry the number in early stages of development.

Also, Shaolin Monks was never announced as just another MK game coming out. From the start, we always knew it was an adventure game.

This is exactly my point icebaby.

If MKSM was not considered part of the chronological line, which we have evidence to show it wasnt. Then MKSM2 would be no different. Only the fighting games seem to register.

Thus a Game dubbed MK9 could not be MKSM2 or else this would be MK10 as a result of MKSM being MK7, which it wasnt.

MKSM was not in the list, so MKSM2 would not be in the list. and this game is Dubbed MK9 making it NOT a sequel to shaolin monks.

hahaha wooh that was confusing for a second. But it makes perfect sense. And as for your spin-off theory about MKDC being included. That was really just the teams decision. it being a fighting game 1v1 is what probebly pushed the decision, aswell as the fact that it turned into MKDC after they started development I believe. But we are dealing with MKSM here and MKDC only makes a difference in terms of which number we are at on the line. We still are presented with the predicament of MKSM being excluded then Included which wouldnt make sense. I am posative that this is not a MKSM sequel based on the key pieces of evidence.

-"Fire and Ice" was the title. No casting for scorpion or sub?
-Kung Lao would not have been the hero in a game said to be About scorpion and subzero.
-The "MK9" label excluding MKSM games.
-The absense of Liu Kang alltogether hinting hes still dead/being controlled elsewhere which would contribute to current storyline. Where as If this era was where its expected, it would be around MK3 and Liu Kang would be a key figure and make the casting list for sure.
