I think for Mk8 they should keep everything 3d (characters & levels), only they should try taking a smash brothers approach. So... gameplay would take a more 2d (linear) approach (with scrolling levels - vertical & horizontal) with a camera that zooms in and out. They should bring back high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick, etc. Being an "oldskool" Mk player, I remember the days when Mk was easy to pick up and play because characters had the same basic movesets aside from special attacks. So unlike the new mortal kombats you don't look like an idiot when you start out playing. Since the characters have different fighting styles now... High punch, high kick etc... would not look the same at all. They should also get rid of "dial-a-combo's" and take a more tekken approach and go with manual combo's. Only special moves and fatalities should still require some specific button sequence. 2 Fighting stances (hand to hand & weapon) should remain intact. So basically... In a nutshell, they should look back into the classic mk games, shaolin monks, the current, and basically try to combine the best features of all of them. I think the game would turn out to be the best Mk game ever...3d graphics, combined with more accurate 2d gameplay, and shaolin monks platform hanging off ledges & bouncing of walls. I think it would turn out pretty solid. Let me know what you guys think and feel free to share your ideas.

yeah, A 1st person view could be kool if they use body awareness, so you could see your kicks and stuff. Maybe done somewhat like "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay" so you automatically face your opponent. Kool idea. Anybody else?

Well.. yeah, that would be pretty cool, I have the riddick game, anyway that was off topic, alright, it would be cool to play in first person mode.
I don't like overly simple fighters, so if it was like Smash brothers or Shaolin Monks I would not buy it.

I hope they just keep going with the mildly complex style, just make it work and flow better.

Also, upgrade the game play with better special effects that are like what you'd see in the intro movies for the game.

Fixing the problems with the fighting engine would pretty much require a drastic change anyway.

I think the game play should evolve, not devolve.

MK8 needs to aproach the other great fighting games like teken and virtua fighter 4 and truly expand the number of moves, combos and special moves each character has. Make each character have one fighting style not stances that you change in combat. Keep in mind though that some fighting styles do vary and have different stances. If mk8 were something like this i would pretty happy. I feel the moveset for MKDA and MKD were to short and your character were doing the same moves and combos over and over again. Also add more fatalities.
About fatalities

I think they should expand on the custom fatality idea but include character specific ones also.

Like if they did this for MKA.

A fighter would have all of their old fatalities + the custom ones from MKA.

I don't get why they remove the fatalities from the older games which are already made. They should keep them and add more, or don't add more for a certain character, but add new moves and combos.

That's the kind of progress I want to see.

Instead of changing stuff so much, add to and refine them.

Not including the already made character specific fatalities for MKA was pretty dumb IMO.
