I know this was possible in MK4 and MKG but what I mean is:
If you hit an opponent carrying his weapon, he/she should lose it and you couls pick it up and keep it until he hits you when fighing with his/her own weapon.

This would allow the used character to have temporarly one more fighting style. So more combo ideas.

Why would you drop your weapon once hit? it was idiotic enough in MK4.

I dont think they should lose their weapon over just one hit. I do like the concept of weapon stealing however. I mean, it should be harder to take the weapon from the opponent, except it not not be as easy as it was in mk4. In mk4, all you needed to do was knock your opponent out of his or her misery, or perform an easy button tatic to steal someone's weapon. In mk8, small weapons like knives should be hard to get knocked out of enemies hands, and big weapons like Staffs&swords easier. [For the Realism]

Thats not realistic at all either. Infact, it is mostly otherwise.
I'd have the weapon stealing be done with reversals, some special throws, ground throws and some powerful attacks on counter hit.

Or you can catch it if it's thrown at you, like you can in Marvel Nemesis.

Why not stealing your opponent's weapon after performing a long combo, then?

I would love to steal my opponents' weapons and use it against them.

Maybe the MK team can allow the players to steal weapons from their opponents' hands by entering a button combination. After that, the fight will freeze and the camera will zoom in. From here, there will be a short contest of "Test Your Might" where you will attempt to pry your opponents' weapons from their hands by pressing buttons repeatedly on your controller.

This concept is somewhat similar to the one in MKSM.

hmm im not sure about the whole, in game mini game things. If I were making the game I would throw in a turn on/off in game mini game setting in the options.

That fits under powerful attacks and ground throws.

There can be some weapon steal specific move that can be done when the opponent is stunned or off balance.

I don't want to just run up to them and grab their weapon if they are in an alert state.

You should have to look for certain opportunities to do such a thing.

It could be similar to the Beatdown weapon system:
Fist weapons - Non-stealable (weak damage)
Club - Second highest damage (more knockback)
Sword - Highest damage (slowish but lowest knockback from normal hit),
note that in this game the only sword was the katana.
Dagger - All-rounder.
