Here's the storyline of Mortal Kombat which soon leads to Armageddon.

Mortal Kombat 1-Liu Kang defeats Shang Tsung and everyone gets happy which so on...leads to MK2.

Mortal Kombat 2(MKSM)-They re-made this game as MKSM.What happens here is Shang Tsung does not want to take no for an answer , since he wanted to win but lost in the tournament he just wants Liu Kang and Kung Lao dead.He morphs himself into Raiden , then leads Liu Kang and Kung Lao onto a quest for power.Liu Kang and Kung Lao take the bait and defeat opponents which makes Shang Tsung stronger.They go to the foundry where both of them meet up with Jax.Jax tells Liu and Kung that Raiden has been with him the whole time.Liu and Kung finds that strange.Once Liu and Kung are near Shao Kahn's arena they find their friends prisoners to Kahn.Kung Lao starts to realize that they might have been aiding someone else.Once again Liu Kang takes the bait and thinks that Kung Lao is Shang Tsung.The real Raiden teleports to the location where Liu and Kung are fighting and tells both of them that they have been giving Shang Tsung lots of power.In the game Kahn knocks down Raiden with his green fireball thing.Liu Kang and Kung Lao find out that what Raiden was telling themwas 100% true.Liu and Kung fight Shang Tsung but end up defeating him.Then Kintaro and end up defeating him.Finally,Kahn...it was a tough battle but Liu Kang and Kung Lao succeed and defeat Kahn.Everyone starts to celebrate and their friends are freed.Quan Chi comes from out of nowhere and grabs a powerful amulet which leads to MK4.Shao Kahn's plans had failed.

Mortal Kombat 3-I'm not sure if this game had any important information.

Mortal Kombat 4-With Quan Chi all mighty and powerful there's no idea what he can do with it.He frees Former Elder God Shinnok from the Netherrealm in exchange for some power and his aid.Earthrealm and other realms get their finest kombatants to fight against Quan Chi and Shinnok.I'm pretty sure Shinnok wants the amulet ,but Quan Chi doesn't want to give it up so easily so he makes a copy of the amulet and gives that one to Shinnok.What happens is that Shinnok is defeated.Scorpion defeats Sub-Zero thinking that he is the killer of his family.Sub-Zero tells him the Lin Kuei did murdered him ,but his family's murderer remains free.This is where Quan Chi pops-up.Quan Chi plans to teleport Scorpion back to the Netherrealm.Scorpion quickly grabs Quan Chi and both of them end up in the Netherrealm.This leads up to MKDA.

Mortal Kombat:Deadly Alliance-So this ends up being a wild goose chase between Scorpion and Quan Chi.Quan Chi convinced two onis(Drahmin and Moloch) to protect him.Quan Chi found out the amulet was even more powerful than expected.He tattooed ancient writing onto his body.He made a portal and went through with the onis.Scorpion went through the portal without anyone noticing.Quan Chi discovered an undead army.He allied himself with Shang Tsung.They ambushed and killed Liu Kang.The Deadly Alliance was unstoppable.Scorpion was headed towards Quan Chi when he met up with two familiar onis,Drahmin and Moloch.The onis overpowered the specter and threw him into the soulnado.The Elder Gods saved Scorpion and had something for him to do.

Mortal Kombat:Deception-Raiden was trying to stop the Deadly Alliance ,but couldn't.What happens here is Shujinko aids the bad guy(Onaga) instead of a good guy which he thought he was aiding.Onaga came into Shang Tsung's palace.The 3 warriors stood there surprised and afraid of Onaga's ultimate force.The 3 warriors quickly allied with one another.Raiden tried to stop Onaga with a final blast.It had little effect.Shang Tsung's souls flew around and Liu's body was already controlled by an evil spirit.Scorpion knew what he had to do for the Elder Gods.The Dragon King was defeated.The tournament was starting to get more and more corrupt.This will lead to Armageddon.

Mortal Kombat:Armageddon-Taven is on a quest to save the realms from Armageddon.He encounters many warriors.It all ends up in the Pyramid of Argus.Taven gets god-like powers and is protector of Edenia.

So that was the storyline.I don't think all characters were demolished in Armageddon, only a few.In the ending on Konquest none of the effects that Argus or Delia said ever took action.Taven said it himself that he would stave off Armageddon until there could be a solution.Do you think there will only be a few returning characters or more?
