i don't know what you guys think, but I think that since deadly alliance they should improve gameplay!
in those 3 last games, mk lost its fluidity like MK4...maybe MK4 wasnt the best game of the series, but it really was fluid. altough I m a really huge mk fan, I prefer to play soulcalibur, because it s just more fun.. there are less characters but techniques are totally different from each other, and interesting to learn. They really have to improve the system.

and for the arenas they should take example on dead or alive!!! there is a "pit stage" in dead or alive 5 they could do something like that for example...

so fluid gameplay and interactive (not lame interactive as mk deception) backgrounds with maybe some relief like in DOA would be awesome..

MK4 wasn't exactly fluid. Then again no MK realy has ever been.

However you are correct that the MK Team really needs to re-double their eforts into creating a fighting system that works. Fluid animations are a part of that. What they truly need to do is incorporate a normal and sensible "risk vs. reward" system like every other fighter out there. When a jab (an attack that is supposed to be weak yet fast) takes longer to get out than the same character's powerful front kick (which should be powerful yet slow) you create a lot of problems.

They also need proper time to play test their shit for glitches and infinites.

i agree with you bro except for one thing, i dont think MK needs to take example from DOA. if anyone started interactive levels, it was MK you know. and im pretty sure MK had the first "pit" stage. but then again i have to admit, im not a big fan of DOA...at all lol.

but yeah i mostly agree with you dude, a new engine should make its way to Midway, i cant wait to see what MK8 will be like in this generation of consoles

If MK ever becomes like DOA or Soul Calibur is the day I stop playing MK.
As I'm sure most MK fans will stop playing too. Do not listen to video game boards much as they are full of complainers. Happy posting.

MK needs to be like....MK.
For example.......?

1 = I only like certain aspects of MK's style, not really the way the games play in general, because I think they could be better.

2 = I like how the hits feel HARD!

3 = The fact that you have special moves, not really the ones in the game or how they look. Some are too silly.

4 = I like the free feeling combo system in MK4. I'd like to have some of that in the next MK.

5 = The run was cool, but I'd like to have running attacks too.

6 = I like the look and feel of some dial combos, but not how they are thought out. I'd have 2-4 hitters that look cool and fairly logical and have them work differently than before.

Example = Have it work with a special Daze system. Like a stun, but it works by increasing the opponent's recovery time for a moment, without fully disabling them, they can still move and everything.

It would allow you to land a short combo that is normally blockable, as an MK style dial combo.

This is similar in concept to a launch and juggle, or stun to free hit combo starters without giving you the first hit for free.

It would allow MK style dial combos to be in the game, but not as a dominant part of it.

The severity (duration) of a Daze can be determined by the type of attack used, or circumstance like the opponent's loss of balance.

7 = The air game from the old MKs was more fun than in the new games IMO, so I'd like that back, and change punches or other aerial attacks to work like in other 2d fighters. The Kicks can still launch.

8 = Fatalities are good, but I'd like to have them be like special Match enders, not done after the fight ends. Or if after the fight ends, you have to be quick and get the opponent as they try to get up for their last stand something better than the standard wobble stance.

9 = I like the speed of MK4, so if they can have the game move faster like that, it would be nice.

and so on....

except the fighting engine (gameplay) that they realised that was crappy and they will use a better one they must fix the animation of the characters.
I saw they are making a wrestling game called TNA IMPACT (A MIDWAY GAME)
and the animation is outstanding also the graphics are awesome, the characters are very detailled and realistic, also they have add real time swept.
They could use some elements of this game to make the next gen MK.

a matter of life and death..really.

DOA,Soul Calibur,Tekken, those games have the basics of a fighting game engine.

MK: just in MKA they tried with wake ups and parries, but they were poorly implemented,so the engine is still flawed and needs the basics.Supposedly MK8 will have this....

I don t say that mk should be like DOA but the arenas in DOA are really well made. I m not a DOA fan neither.

in mk deception instead of having fights at the top of the pit we were fighting in a lame ring and had the pit in the background. I know that first interactive backgrounds were in MK but in DOA arenas are really well made.

And for the gameplay They really should work on a physics system
