Okay! So far all characters lists and possible plots have been brilliant, but if we are going to start talking seriously we must consider the following:
According to Ed Boon, in one of his interviews before releasing MKD, Sub - Zero and Scorpion are permanent basis characters... Starting from that point we can think on a follow-up to both of these character's lives
For Sub - Zero I would try to explain the relationship between the MKDA one and the MKD... If they end up being the same, it would be cool to have an explanation on the change of looks... Since Sub - Zero became the Master of the Lin Kuei and experienced the death of Frost I would assume a change of heart and appareance, once more, to resemble more closely the qualities of a Master... The armor of MKD, although looks cool, it makes him look heavy and very old fashion... I would go back to his costume in MKDA with the added feature of his ice sword (something like Scorpion), and I would assign an icon somewhere in his new uniform showing his status as Master... Of course he has grown since MK3 where he was portrayed as a young man... Going back to the young appearance would be silly since the plot is meant to continue along with the story...
Scorpion should be here, no matter what, fighting for his own cause... He has been betrayed by every single person he has allied with, so for MK 7 I would expect him to return with a rougher look... Of course, keeping in mind his ninja status... MKDA had an excellent approach to Scorpion now seen as a renegade... His participation in the game should be connectded to that of Sub - Zero so players can finally see what's up with the alliance they forged long time ago...
Now if we apply common sense to this "Possible Character List" we have to add in our lists, Sub - Zero's and Scorpion's nemesis's. Sub - Zero had some encounters with Noob Saibot when trying to find out about his brother's murderer... Now, since Noob has allied with Smoke to battle for their own causes we have to admit them in the game and, all of the sudden, we gain two more characters to our list... Scorpion, on the other hand, has a huge vermin againts Quan Chi and Shang Tsung for their forgotten promises of re-uniting him with his family... This burden for Scorpion needs to be addressed ASAP... With Quan Chi and Tsung in the list we can now include the following to the MKDA plot... Of course, Tsung needs to be weaken from his original state to maybe the level of sorcery he has in MK2... (Remember he has lost his souls palace)...
Quan Chi can be brought up to the story badly injured for his fight against Onaga in trying to maintain control on the Dragon Army... For these two characters we can add quite a few nemesis's... Liu Kang's recovered soul should fight against Tsung to avenge his own death... He needs to have some new special abilities to resemble his in-between-world status... Since he has his soul recently inserted in his body he could have some powers to release it and play as a ghost or something... Along with him we could add Kung Lao who, not only respects Kang as a warrior, but also considers him a great friend... Kung Lao should fight for his friend... Maybe not against Tsung, but against the whole Deadly Alliance which brought death upon his friend...
Quan Chi should, by all means, receive an unexpected visit... Since Onaga took control of all Kamidogu the realms were opened and people, supposed to be death, can return to avenge a lost cause or themselves... Shinnok, the fallen elder god kept in Netherrealm should come back to pay back Quan Chi treason... After all, was him who hindered Shinnok's plans to control all realms... Maybe trying to give a second chance to characters killed in one of the past tournaments and forever forgotten, we could see Shinnok recruiting a new set of general to fight for his new cause and against all those who oppose him... If you are familiar with MKD Konquest you remember some familiar faces in Netherrealm... Drahmin, Sheeva and Moloch... They should come back in the game following Shinnok's idea of Armaggedon... Along with them I would add Kano who was left, in limbo, after he tried to control the souls' power from Tsung... He should be treated as a lifeless corpse fighting for a cause giving to him... Still, for everyone's surprise he would have his powers and status from MKD... The only thing that would change are his looks and alligiance... Moloch who was put as a Sub - Boss should be kept as a playable character...
