Call me stupid or crazy, but I would like to see MK7 released on current consoles. That way, we could save alot of headaches for ourselves by not buying a more expensive console.
But to answer you're question directly, I think its still up in the air.
If you wnat good news however, Ed Boon himself said on fight night that current consoles have alot of life remaining in them, but that the topic of which consoles MK7 would be releaesd on is not up for discussion.
Stay tuned! :D

Are you kidding me why wouldnt MK be released on the new consoles. 360 comes out in November and PS 3 sometime after that but who cares about PS3 ne way. So with 30 out and MK nit coming out from whats seen as not for another couples years how could it not come out on the new systems. It would be like them releasing MK:DA on playstation and nintendo 64 when it came out.

here is a quote
Midway Games CEO David Zucker has taken the rather surprising step of revealing that a seventh Mortal Kombat beat-'em-up is planned for PlayStation 3, Xbox 2 and a third wireless platform.

Where is that quote from? I've never seen it. I was under the impression that MK7 would not be released on next-gen consoles.

MK7 will be released on next-gen consoles. If the MK Team keeps with their "one MK game a year" statement, then the Xbox360 will already have been out a year, and the PS3 will already be released as well. You don't release a big name game like MK on old technology.

I believe Boon said that the next MK game will be released on the current generation consoles during Fight Night or something that implied that . If it is truth, I hope that includes the GameCube.

I agree w/ DoctorDrew why would a new game be released for last generation consoles? I know Boon said that the old consoles still have a lot of life, but they wont after the 360 and PS3 come out. Releasing MK7 for the current systems would just a bit lazy on Midways part because they have plenty of time to release it for the next gen, but that would require more work I'm sure.

The developers will jump on the next generation boat, and MK will definitely be there.

From Fight Night:
" Will MK7 be released on the next-gen systems like X-Box 360, PS3, and Nintendo Revolution? Or current systems (PS2, X-Box, and GameCube)
* Shaun-Himmerick Kool
ALL SYSTEMS......?
It's been so confusing..
It keeps going back and forth.
Which is it??
heh
We can't get into those details....wish we could
N-Gage
Reilly says "no platforms have been announced yet, but there is plenty of life left in these current systems."
Reilly being from PR. If we want to break away from theories, and stick to the facts, then the truth is that no console has been confirmed. I still believe that it'll be a next-gen game. With Midway being able to use the Unreal 3 engine, the launching of all 3 next-gen consoles within the next 14 months, and the supposed release of a new MK game a year, which would put the MK7 release sometime late next year.
I highly doubt that Midway won't be pushing to see the next Mortal Kombat on the Xbox360, PS3, and possibly the Nintendo Revolution.

Funny even game developers are saying the opposite and the ps3 is going to have a 33% failure rate, but oh well. PS3 is also going to retail at $599.
Back to the thread, MK7 better come to next gen. consoles or that would suck ass.

Knowing Midway as I think I know it, the plan is: MK7 is being made for current-gen for a release in 2006 and we'll have MKSM2 and an improved version of MK7 for next-gen in 2007.

Thanks for those links firel3urner, but I'm afraid they don't prove nothing today - only the plans they had more that a year ago. A year in gaming industry is a lot of time to change decisions, plans and schedules.
Come on people, don't tell me you didn't read that part in the latest Fight Night Chat MKO hosted, in which Shaun Himmerick said "current-gen consoles still have a lot of life". What other else it could mean? MK7 WILL be released first in PS2 and X-BOX (not sure about GC) and then -maybe- they will release an improved MK7 on next gen.

I know what was said but who says they arent coming out with another MK game like shaolin monks and not a fighting game. Now you're right stating that things change in time especially when its been over a year BUT, with XBOX 360 due this november and PS3 due in about a year and with MK7 due (from rumors) in a year or longer then what would be the sense of making a game for a system that would be considered to be outdated when MK7 is supposedly due? Just my thinking though.

i think that is what their going to do, hopefully. but it makes more logical sense that they release it for a next-gen console than a current-gen. but i like the idea of a current-gen game and then a suped-up version on a next-gen console.
hopefully they dont rush themselves to release MK7 on current-gen b4 xbox 360 is to be released............

I'm gonna side with the 360 when the next-gen war comes but as of now I haven't seen one game I'm interested in so far for the 360. It's not worth paying 300-400 dollars for a system at launch that doesn't have any groundbreaking, must-have games. Until, I see or play a game that has that "something" then I will get the 360....and I have a feeling that game may very well be MK7.
