Mace: The Dark Ages characters reintroduced as MK ones
As said in the thread title, they wouldn't be guests, they'd be repackaged into MK characters with some changes to their stories. It'd be a shame if a sequel never came out and those characters were lost to us forever. Lord Deimos, HellKnight, Dregan, the Executioner, Namira, Pojo, just to name a few.
Does anyone know what happened to other Midway IPs like Mace? Could NRS gain the copyrights to that game's content? And is there anyone here besides me who wants to see any Mace characters in MKX? Or new characters inspired by some of them?

Honestly why not just make new characters? Wouldn't make a lot of sense to me to cannibalize characters from an obscure 90s fighting game not many people remember.

Namira and Koyasha are kinda like Mileena design-wise.

Yep, agreed.
I'd rather see something new than reintroduce characters from a series that's not that well known. Mainly saying this because I had to google what this was even about.
I'm down in seeing someone new.

I think that its just a shame that characters with really cool designs are just forgotten about. That's why I think Mace characters are routinely brought up on the MK boards. They were really cool and would fit in the world nicely, not to mention they were owned by the same people as MK.
Mace still has a surprising number of fans so I can get why people would ask for them. It'll never happen, but it'd be cool to see.

Mace was such a fun game, but I don't want any of the characters to return in MK or be repackaged in any way. As Paul McCartney once said "let it be."
I don't see why it's such a big deal that the series is obscure. If we were to get any Mace characters, most people would probably treat them as new characters. I'm pretty sure that certain characters, like Lord Deimos, would draw in people with their designs alone. And if it became known that they weren't MK characters, well, you'd probably get MK purists complaining, as usual, only perhaps even more agitated if these characters were to become part of the MK canon. But the purists' complaints have rarely, if ever, caused a game to crash and burn. Casuals probably wouldn't give a shit. Really, the only thing that could truly stop NRS from using Mace characters is a copyright issue.
Anyway, here's a few ideas to help fit some Mace characters in the MK universe.
1) Remember the Elder Demon concepts and Baphomet from the sketches in MK:DA? Lord Deimos could be one of those Elder Demons.
2) The War Mech pilot's dwarf race could come from one of MK's many realms.
3) Ragnar could be a modern human who's obsessed with Vikings.

I would LOVE for NRS to adopt this old Midway title and bring it on as their next franchise. Loved Mace back in the day. The plot, the time period, the characters... This could have (and should have) been the beginning of a really cool series.
Now that Killer Instinct is back, there's no other fighter is like to see resurrected more, though Eternal Champions, Weaponlord and Bloody Roar are also high on that list.
As for reintroducing characters through MKX, I would only want one, and I'd want them as a DLC guest character. I'm speaking of course, of Lord Deimos. They could use him as a test balloon to gauge interest in a rebooted Mace series. Hopefully, he'd get fans talking and NRS / WB get the message.
I'm 10,000% in favor of this!

I would much rather see a sequel to Mace! It was such an amazing game!
If they were to re-introduce a few characters in the MK universe, here's what I could see...
Lord Deimos would obviously be some sort of Nether Realm war lord...perhaps the one Shinnok overthrew to gain control of the Nether Realm?
Koyasha's design is essentially Scarlet, so....nevermind.
Xiao Long could easily be a member of the White Lotus society.
Ragnar could be re visioned as a Norse god. Perhaps one that doesn't see eye to eye with Raiden's decisions.
Taria could be a sorceress aiding Shinnok or Quan Chi...but that might make her a bit too similar to Tanya.
Al Rashed and Namira could be a cool character from a desert-like realm...perhaps Edenia? A group of people that inhabited Jade's desert? Possibly play into Jade's story, giving her more substance to work with, other than being "Kitana's BFF."
There's potential for this cast....but overall, I'd rather see new characters that actually fit into the MK universe, rather than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole...

It just doesn't make sense to shoehorn characters that have nothing to do with MK into an MK game; in the process having to either come up with some goofy reason for them to exist in the MK universe or having to change their origins/back stories completely. The exception would be to have them as guest characters but if you're going to have guest characters, again, why would you include characters nobody except a handful of people would recognize? That runs completely against the concept of a guest character. To me it's like asking for Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. or War Gods characters...why?
Just make new characters with no baggage that way you can literally do whatever you want from a gameplay, story, and artistic perspective.

I'd be fine with a guest character from Mace in MKX. If said character is well received, maybe a reboot for Mace could be a possibility. However unlikely that is, the least we'll get is an awesome character for MKX. No lose situation, but it's up to the developers if they're even interested.

Wow thank you OP
Lol I have some memories of playing that game and for a few years now I have not been able to remember what it was called and now I finally know!
Anyway na, id rather NRS just make new characters, maybe a few of them could be inspired by mace characters though.

He'll yeah, Al Rashid would be a sweet addition to MKX. Totally in favor of that happening.
I can't believe I never noticed this before, but apparently, a Mace character DID make a cameo in Armageddon's Konquest mode!

I just found this when I happened to be browsing the Mortal Kombat Wiki page. Ultimately nothing, but still cool.

I don't know if that's supposed to be the same character. Sure both have the same name but the name, and the design are both pretty generic. It's probably just a coincidence, but who knows
