Should the loin cloth design be abused in MK8? Yay or nay?

Over half of the characters in MK:A had loin cloths. Either on their primary, alternate, or both. The MK team even added the loin cloths to Noob Saibot and Smoke, which they seemed to have forgotten in MK:D (judging by the renders).

Now I know that loin cloths can add flair to certain designs, and some of the characters in MK:A wouldn't seem to look right to me without them... but many others just seemed unecessary, and kinda pushed me away.
