Living tower question

Hi everyone.

I was watching the trailer just now to see if i could see Sonya in it ( which i did )

But my question is Why are there different people at top of every tower ?
I mean i saw someone who looks like Liu Kang. And on another i saw sub zero ??

Because they're challenges, not Arcade mode.

The people at the top of those towers are just the highest challenge for that particular tower, not the boss of the game.

Oh i am sorry i did not understand that.
So the living tower is like the the challenge tower in mk9 ?
Why did we not see the arcade ladder yet ?

I am confused now.
People are positive that Sonya , Jax and Liu Kang are playable because they are in the tower.
But if they are in the tower could they not just be a cameo for the Challenges of Cassie and Jaquie etc ?

The Living Tower is like the Arcade Mode without the boss but with objectives to complete like the Challenge Tower. Simply.
