When Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang) takes over the Lin Kuei as the Grand Master, does his entire clan become wielders of ice powers like himself? Smoke, Sektor, and Cyrax were all Lin Kuei members and all had different abilities, none being ice powers. I'm thinking the klan memebrs are all just normal ninjas and only Sub-Zero's protege (apprentice) is taught to wield ice powers, hence Frost. I really don't know for sure, but was just wondering if this is covered in MKX story mode or any of the past games.

Sub-Zero's cryomantic powers can't be "taught". It was revealed back in MKDA that Sub-Zero's family descended from an Outworld group of Cryomancers (his MKD armor was taken from the ruins where he discovered this). Frost descended from them too, though it's not known how related she is to Bi-Han and Kuai Liang.

In the new timeline the Lin Kuei and Hanzo's new Shira-Ryu are made up of survivors of the Netherrealm War and are made up of volunteers [no more baby snatching] who train to defend Earthrealm. That was the purpose of Kuai Liang's reformed Lin Kuei in the old timeline. So I have a feeling that will still be true here and extended to the new Shira-Ryu as well.

Yeah they've kinda become the Earthrealm defense force along with the Special Forces. I love that direction, and am happy to see the LK as a force of good.

Now we need Smoke back, and him Sub, and even to an extent Frost ( hoping she will be good this time around) lead the LK.
