From the main squad, Kung Jin outfit looks like it is... outdated?

Cassie and Jaquie have military looks, and while Takeda has a bit of a samurai theme, it's a modern look that reminds me a lot of Raiden (not MK Raiden, Metal Gear Raiden). But Kung Jin looks like he comes either from a different era or from Outworld.

His casting call bio states that he was raised in the US when his family moved after Kung Lao's death and there he became a thief. He then was recruited by Raiden to join the shaolin monks.

His costume doesn't look like either "modern" from his US background, or shaolin (he doesn't look like either Kung Lao or Liu Kang). I think it's the weird head thing. Many speculated about him being of Kotal Kahn's race when he appeared in the living tower, and it's true that his outfit looks more like that culture than what he's supposed to be.

Anyone else got that feeling he looks off when standing next to the other squad members?
He, from every character showed in the video, is the only I would want to kiss.
Idk what you can extract from that, I just wanted to say it.

The webseries cast sheet mentions he was trained by Bo Rai Cho. I guess that's were the outlandish weapon and look comes from.

I'm interested to know what you think about Nightwolf's clothing attire?

Does he look off to you too?

Back off Kung Jin!!!! He looks cool to me and I can't wait to see more of him. I think he makes a excellent replacement for Liu Kang. That monk can stay dead since we have Kung Lao and now Kung Jin.

He's saying that Kung Jin looks like neither a Shaolin monk nor a Spec Ops agent, and that's a valid thing to wonder about. His look must have some history behind it. I'm curious what it is, but I'm at a loss for speculation.

NRS keeps saying a lot of the story is going to be seeing these characters grow up with the characters we already know. Kung Jin is the one I'm most interested in just because he's so outlandish. What made him go in that direction is something I'm curious about because he seems very Americanized.

Neither did/does Kung Lao look like anything like a shaolin.

Jin looks chinese I give him that.

Kung Jin's helmet is the only thing that looks off imo. It's not like he's from the medieval era or a roman warrior.

Takeda is way more off, hope that robotic suit gets toned down because it's way too big and way too much going on. Should be his alternate I hope..

Where do people get the idea he's part of the SF? To me it just seems like he and Takeda are teaming up with Jacqui and Cassie, who are part of the SF.

Remember those extra cool military designs for Kenshi and Cyrax in MK:DA when they were in the SF? Oh wait, what military designs? Shouldn't Raiden be dressed "appropriately" too, seeing as he's talking to them in that scene and thus must be part of the SF now, too? Sarcasm, duh.

I have no issue with Kung Jin's design. He looks no more off than the ninjas and monks existing in the present.

It comes from the casting call for the web series. Takeda and Jin are described to be part of "Johnny Cage's secret special forces offshoot"

The casting call says the Takeda is in the SF, and that he Is working with his father Kenshi. Kung Jin however, is taken under the wing of BoRaiCho.

KJ's helmet looks like Havik's to me. So now if Havik is DLC, he will need a new helmet :/

Even then, seeing as Agent Kenshi in MK:DA still dressed like a Samurai, and Agent Cyrax still looked like a yellow Power Ranger, then Kung Jin's outfit shouldn't seem anymore farfetched than those.

Different backgrounds and cultures, different outfits. I think it's the best of the bunch.

not really digging the designs for Jacqui, Jin, or Takeda. i dunno they just seem stale. Jacqui and Cassie pretty much dress the same. they just all look similar to me. their gameplay looks cool tho. maybe their alts will be better.

Well to me, Kung Jin looks right at home, fits right in. I love the look to be quite honest and I'm a huge Kung Lao fan, the design is somewhat similar to a degree. Can't wait to see some gameplay of him, that fatality was the shit.

Ya man, I've been complaining about this stuff since Deadly Alliance. It looks like their in Johnny Quest or G.I. Joe, diverse warriors from all around the world fighting for the same common goal: Justice for all!

Takeda looks fantastic. That's what I wish they would have done for Kenshi and Cyrax. You can tell he has a (let's not get into this today guys) "Ninja" backround but his suit looks like it was at least partially designed but the special forces. He looks like a hybrid of Ninja and Spy... what they should have done for his papi and cyrax. Kung Jin though, I assumed the guy was a member of Kotals race, gives off an Aztec vibe. He doesn't really even seem like a white lotus member let alone a Special Forces member. You're right about it not looking tactical, their pulling off these stealthy missions and this guy's decked out in gold lol. Sure, make this his white lotus garb but give him some Special Forces alt. That makes sense to me.

I'm all for his gameplay, I'm all for a bow wielder, I'm all for the next gen siblings/children thing. He's just weird on both ends. Doesn't seem like he's Kung Laos bro or a Special forces member. I agree, he sticks out like a sore thumb. The only new character I'm not digging... I'm staying open minded about our cowboy ninja pal lol

I do lol. Nightwolf's awful and NRS knows it. He's not coming back IMO

Well I did say, they gave Kotal an Aztec look and they gave Kung Jin a Philistine look.
