sad

I have to say I was very disappointed when Kreate a Fighter Mode was not listed in the game features in the newest installment of the MK series.

..so I have to ask.
Was this awsome feature from MK Armageddon a 1 time thing that they didnt ever intend to use again?

...personally I loved messing with that mode on that game. Even now I get an idea or 2 for a diffrent character for MK to try to make.

Yes, and hopefully it'll stay that way.
No more of that KAF bullshit.

KAK was a less than complete feature, not to mention it killed what little balance MKA had. If it shows up again, im thinking it will prolly be strictly visual customization, which i would love. i would hate to see the old KAK showing up again.

It seems it would be hard to do unless you had kreate a fatality with it...What finishers would the kreated fighter have? With all the cinematics involved now with fatalities it would be tricky to not have one pre-canned for them

I was referring to customizing the look of pre-existing Characters.

As long as they keep putting as much effort into their characters as they've been doing, it's not needed for me.

I would love to have Kreate a Fighter to return with alot more options than in MK Armageddon! I find it quite enjoyable to make my own characters and the system they used in MKA was very good. That you could make your own fighting style like that was incredibly awesome, however, there wasn't enough special moves or weapons to choose from. If it had more diversity in it, then I would love for it to return.

About fatalities though, they could simply implant a few fatalities for the created fighter to choose from, or maybe make the option to choose from already existing fatalities. E.g. taking one from Subbie and one from Mileena. Then NRS didn't have to think up completely new ones.

I have to agree with that, having some kind of kreate/modify a fatality mode would be a must, or at least a "LARGE" collection of premade ones to choose from. With hopefully some kind of color alteration to it to allow players to match the premades to the kharacter that your trying to make/dream up.

An a PS3 disc can hold "ALOT" of data... look at any of better PS3 discs that were data PACKED... like Metal Gear Solid 4 for one it was literally packed to almost maximum disc capacity.

So there would be def be space for it if done right/well. An the Unreal engine can produce some awe inspiring graphic effects, so there would be a HUGE possibility that it could be pulled off "ALOT" better than in MK Arm. which would be a very big bonus.

Gone from this game? Yes.

Gone forever? That remains to be seen.

I figure they'll probably bring it back at some point, I just think that for this game they wanted to make the actual core game (fighting engine, graphics, etc.) better before they try to be more ambitious with other things like KAF.

For KAK to work and to avoid risks of characters becoming "broken" and to save development time is to make the fighting styles preset and let you choose from the roster of playable character for your moveset template and give the KAK's the same fatalties as their template counterpart. Soul Calibur did it, and the positive side is that it saves development time and if the main roster isn't broken, the KAK's won't be either.

If they do it that way and have a wide array of custimization tools to the point that it's entertaining designing characters, like in Soul Calibur and other games with a more top tier character creation system and have it set up so that you can customize the regular roster as well, that would be perfect.

I didn't like Armageddon's KAK that much, honestly I only opened it like twice, not because I hate character custimization, but because it felt, I dunno bland, most likely due to many things in that game being rushed.

Kreate A Fighter is one thing I won't miss. I only used it one time and hated it.

Although, I did get enjoyment out of fighting as a guy in a leather bondage type outfit. But it got old pretty fast. Good riddance to that feature.

one of the worst things about KAK was how limited you were in making BL combos. they let you make 2 or 3 but the button combination was the same for whatever characters you made. way too limited. better for NRS to make the styles and just let us customize the look IMO.

I think it can be pulled off. It was an idea that was too soon. With games like Little Big Planet, and Halo Forge, it could actually work.

Well with so many Klassic/New Kombat-heads disliking that mode...

What do you all feel "personally" would fix/salvage this mode an make it fun/enjoyable to use in a possible future MK title?

If they were to make the KAF go along within the story mode, then ya, i would be all for it. But if they did do that they it should.
1. Have a limit (2 at Max)
2. No special moves or fatalities that the orginal kombatants have
3. No online use.

Customizing the looks of characters sounds 10x better. Having Scorpion's mask from DA, Deception, and the classic costume, and the MK3 costume. Same with Sub Zero. All these features would have to be purchased in the krypt. And something extra I can think of for Scorpion would be his DA promo costume. (Which was his DA alternate, WITH a mask on). Customizing Raiden's costume would also be pretty cool.

My only issue with Kreate a Fighter modes in fighting games is that I tend to start focusing on the custom characters instead of the main roster. Other than that, I friggan love making my own fighters; its the only real reason I play SCIV anymore.

I would love it back so long as they do it right. I think they should just have a few movesets you pick from of move properties, but then let you pick how the, say, 9 frame high kick with 2+ frame advantage on block, looks. That way, you pick from balanced sets of move data, which is what makes fighting styles balanced, but then you can pick from various animations that fit that data. Unlike in MKA, they wouldn't just let you string any types of moves together in combos.

Special moves should be a list of entirely new ones, and you can also unlock MK special moves. Fatalities would be generic body rips and stuff, but then you could also unlock, say, Sub-Zero's Fatality for custom fighters, if you wanted to make a cyromancer character.

I think it would be awesome.

Initially reading that, it sounded stupid. Then I thought about it, and I realized how brilliant of an idea it is.

I happen to recall Ed saying that he doesn't think we've seen the end of KAF..
