the amulet - it was a big part of the story in mk4 and if mk continues to remake the saga's this item is very important.

the dragon madallion - it was very important in mkda for the likes of sub -zero and frost. make it return but leave with an impact.

dragon egg and the dragon kings army - these 2 tied in with each other and have an influence in the story.

the kamidogu - this was an key to defeat onga so i don't see why it wouln't be important.

here's how i see these items play roles in the next few mk games.

mk10 the amulet from mk4.
mk11 the dragon madallion and the dragon kings army.
mk12 the dragon egg and the kamidogu.

this would finish the entire old cast and leave the fans happpy. in mk13 we could have an entire new cast. imagin new characters having sweet xrays and etc. it could be awsome. plus there could be new characters, arenas, realms and so much more.
