I can't believe people are so blind and stupid.

Ed Boon said in an interview that: Because Rain was a DLC in MK2011, it would be unfair if he took a DLC spot again in X, or if he took a spot in the roster (not his exact words but it came down to that)

That would mean (in the real world) that Skarlet and Kenshi would be left out of the DLC and main game as well.


To me it seems, Mr.Troll AKA Ed Boon pretty much confirmed that Rain isn't a character, its a bug, a joke that can only appear in one out of ten games, and if he appeared he can't appear in the next game because that would be unfair to the other characters! (while the MK1 cast appears OVER AND FUCKING OVER again in every game, which isn't unfair of course)

So lets make this topic the R.I.P Rain topic, say goodbuy to the only cool Edenian male character of the series! And lets all lay a flower on his grave.


Thanks Ed Boon! For creating a cool character and leaving him in the dust like that!

Also I will NEVER EVER take another Twitter hint/comment from mr.boon serious EVER again.

I wouldn't call that "not his exact words". I would call that "I totally distorted what he said". Yes I also love Rain but Boon only said he wouldn't be DLC in this game. Him saying it would be unfair for him to appear in this game would be totally fucked up. There's no such thing as "fair" when it comes to a character's appearance in a game.
Yes the possibilities for Rain's variations would be countless with his element but they made the decision not to include him. I was also disappointed but there's no reason to place blame on them. Or keep trashing the MK1 characters who, let's be honest, are looking awesome right now. Get over it. Ahnka and I did, which means everybody can lol.

But then again why IS rain so important/cool? He had no canonical story, not too interesting gameplay, plus IMO he never crawled out of being a palette swap ninja with goofy specials/nightwolf's lightning attack.

Because it appeals to you.

not everything is logically construed in your head, your mind has preferences when it recognizes patterns and shapes etc.

I do not particularly like Rain, I think he is a redundant excuse that was used to fill up an already obtuse roster, his story wasn't particularly defined even for an MK character, that is it. Objectively speaking that level of ambiguity does not lend itself to be considered as a character.

I do not fault people for liking him, I just do not wish to see him taking up a slot from characters I like, or are perhaps more necessary or fitting into the overall context.
