Blaze was a warrior who was chosen to be the guardian of the Dragon Kings egg but he wouldn't do it so he got ambushed by the Dragon Kings servents and they used some spells on him so he had no choice. So he was stuck with being the guardian of the egg until the Dragon King returned. So when the Dragon King returned blaze was free and he went loco on the people who cursed him. I wonder if he's going to go after the Dragon King too.

Blaze has some kick-ass combos, but no weapon or fatality. I think he's one of the strongest characters in the game.,

I'd rather see the Fire God and his elemental counterparts return than Mr. Can't-Wear-Clothing-Because-It-Burns-Off-My-Back...

I'd love to see Blaze back. He rocks! I'm still waiitng to find out exactly what he's all about and what his secret mission was. Hopefully they'll reveal it soon.

Yeah, I agree. I think he's an interesting character who I'd like to see again. I too hope that they reveal his mission.

Don't like him or hate him. No kudos for the most "meh" character in Mk history.
Doesn't need to come back, but perhaps he should if only for story resolution.

No Mokap was the worst character ever.
As for Blaze, I would like to see him return. He has enough potential. But they should do a little revamp on him, I guess.
Blaze is one of the most unoriginal characters and has one of the worst concept designs in the Mk games history...and even so, he also has a very interesting storyline with potential.
Blaze doesnt need to return, but if he does, I only hope they give him a new design, something like the krypt sketches they had of him...the final version sucked. Specially since he had no original moves, fatalities, styles, etc.

I thought Blaze was a good character with good combos like Scorpion
I for one think that Blaze is an untapped resource. His origins go all the way back to MK2 and we only know little about his story. They need to re-create this guy from the ground up. Make him a more original character. Give him his own moves, his own fatalities, his own styles, etc. The possibilities for this character are endless.
Just thought I would mention that the guy on fire in the background of the pit 2 is Torch, and cannot be Blaze. The reason is because Blaze was forced to guard the last dragon egg as soon as Dragon King was poisoned/killed whatever. So, depending on how long Kahn has been in power, Blaze could have been doing his mission in MK1, but not MK2.
I think that Midway said they were inspired by the background, but storyline wise, it just doesn't make sense for that character to be Blaze.
I also think that Blaze has a lot of untapped potential. He could be made into a sweet character, and form a nice opposite for Sub-Zero.

Yeah, I was disappointed Blaze wasn't in Deception.
When the Dragon King hatched, and his curse was lifted, he should've been there to fight the Dragon King, and get revenge.
Then by now, we could learn more about his own motivations, and the life he left behind, and may or may not seek to reclaim.

Please, Link me to where the MK Team gave a name to that character and confirmed it wasn't Blaze.

I agree that as far as the story goes, it's a bit of an oversight. As far as I remember, there was some mention that the guy "Torch" is fighting on the bridge is one of Dragon King's disciples.
As for Blaze's genesis in the real world, it was made very public at the time that it is indeed Torch, and that his name was changed to avoid any potential lawsuits from Marvel comics, proprietors of the Human Torch trademark from the Fantastic Four, and Invaders.
Which really isn't unreasonable.

It was confirmed in the krypt stories, interviews and part of his bio, that the fire man in Mk2 IS IN FACT Blaze.
Though the story-time doesn’t make sense, it was supposed to be some regular mk nostalgia thing. They even hinted before the game was released that MKDA would have one character from the past games that only appeared in the background and was never playable....everyone thought of Torch (whis is not a cannon name btw), the Shadow priests, etc...in the end, it was Torch, but with an official name: Blaze.
It was also confirmed that the Liu Kang figure fighting the guy in flames (Blaze), is in fact one of the monks who captured him and imprisoned him under the lava.
Hope that clears that out. Its all in the MKDA story boards of the krypt and even hinted in Blazes ending. You can search for interviews too, Boon confirmed that.
