I mean, basically in MKD you just had Konquest mode, and if you just went into the right hut...voila..presto, you unlocked a character. I however think in the next game, each character get should require you to play a game within a game, a Konquest all designated to that one character that you've been dreaming of getting...that way when you really get one, and save it on you're memory card, it will be worth something....What do you guys think...good or bad idea??
well I think my deception data is worth saving. It took me a while to get all the charactors and unlock everything in the krypt. Though i do like the concept of making it harder to unlock the charactors. I think that they shouldn't show up in the character select screen untill you unlock them. That way you might never know if you unlocked everybody, Which prolongs the life of the game. So i agree with you bud.

On one hand, I'd agree that the fans seem to have alot more ideas than the MK team these days. Especially if we're talking about creative ideas like characters or plotlines, or logical ideas that pertain to the core fighting engine. The problem however, is the fact that what constitutes a good idea and and a bad idea are unbelievably subjective. I like your idea about konquest, and how unlocking characters should be harder. I also like the idea about not having characters revealed on the select screen until they're unlocked, but other people might not. If I had my say though, the whole konquest mode idea would be completely done away with in favor of a robust story mode. I'd also like a create a character mode, a suggestion that I made before that some really liked and others really hated. So it's a mixed bag essentially. Still, I completely agree with you on the fact that the MK team could benefit from some outside ideas and perspectives.
One thing is that we have alot more ideas since we are many. Another thing is that the quality is often weak and not corresponding to Midways vision of MK, not to mention that he would need to pay a lot more extra money out of the window, and thats why Vogel is responsible for the most [part. A single man can be much more efficient (in writing) than an army.

I dont want a konquest!
They should make it like Soul Calibur and tell stories of that character frew the game and u have to fight certain characters to unlock them!
I.e fight human Smoke in the living forest beat him and he's playable, Free Cyrax in Jade's desert, fight him win, play as him! etc!!

I'd be totally up for replacing Vogel in the story writing department. I doubt I could do a worse job.

Hell yeah he does.
We do need to work hard for characters. People just come on the internet and find out where abouts the chest is where the certain character is hidden.
By making a fighting challenge you will have to be good at the game and use ur skills to win a new character.

yea but knowin the mk team they will most likely add in another corny rpg or puzzle game to unlock shit...i dont want any of that i want A FIGHTING GAME....they should just leave the unlocking thing to tekken games n shit...keep the unlockin stuff to secret characters...but not regulars ones..its a waste of time n disc space..they need to spend more time on gameplay..cuz when i play other fighters like tekken...i dont care about the mini games..i care about the fighting cuz dats wats most important

Amen Digital-Assasin. I don't need thos poofy modes like konquest (it's not even the real story!!) the krypt, chess, test your whatever, puzzle or anything like that. If the MK team wants party games, make a party game that's stand alone. Boon said before MK:D came out that he wanted this to be one of the most complete, all around fighting games ever made. Meaning you could do alot with the fighting and without it. My question is WHY!?!? Make a great fighting engine with good, logical counters, a good ground game, unique moves for styles (that actually reflect real life styles) and the millions of other suggestions regarding the fighting system and then maybe we'll talk about the need for Test Your Height or whatever else they'll inevitably put in MK7 to take time away from actually improving things like the characters, the story or the game modes that really pertain to fighting (like tag team, tournament, time attack, create a character...the list goes on and on).
In my eyes, extras don't mean crap if what you have to play through to get them isn't all that great to begin with. MK fans like the secrets, but man, make them good secrets that are worth finding, and let us actually find them. Don't put all of the secrets together in one mode and then make us do lame fetch quests to unlock them or earn money to unlock them. That's my .10 cents.

I'm of the mind set that everybody should be unlocked from the beginning. I don't like having to beat the game with everybody in Tekken or Soul Calibur to unlock a few characters I want, and I don't like running around and going out of my way in Mortal Kombat to play as a character I want.
Call it laziness but whatever.
