Obviously,Sub-Zero and Scorpion.Ed Boon said they're "perfect" candidates.In a Game Informer interview,he said "I can't imagine a Mortal kombat game without Scorpion and Sub-Zero".That's some good proof right there.

Well, I know a certain few characters will returns, so I don't even have to consider them.

I really want to see Reptile back. He's been my favorite for a long time, and he has some storyline potential. I just hope Midway finally listens and gives back his forceball.

As for a second return, that's more difficult. I guess I'd like to see Shang Tsung return, just because you need at least one "Jason Voorhees" guy who never stays dead, and Shang's the boss that's been around the longest.

1) i'll give you a second to look at my sig. i think shang tsung should return in the new mk. he's been around for countless generations. he's deceived, tricked, murdered, and stolen so many souls. he could literally fit into damn near any story they could write. by far one of the most versatile charactars story wise.

2) havik. another very versatile charactar story wise. he doesn't give a damn about anything or anybody. his goal is chaos. he's the ultimate wild card.

My first pic would be Kintaro. They made him so cool-looking in Armageddon, and he never really got a chance to get fleshed out, storywise. I really wanted to see his reaction to Shao Kahn's betrayal, the peace treaty betweent he Shokan and the Centaurs, and especially Goro's supposed death in battle by Noob Saibot. And, he has never been confirmed what his fate was post-MK2 , so unless he's tossed into the pile of Kharacters Best Left Forgotten (which, knowing Boon and Vogel and Midway, is a distinct possibility), the situation's ripe for his return. He could overthrow Goro and become the Shokan's new ruler, maybe take Sheeva as his wife, and maybe even bitchslap Motaro for going on a jihad against all Shokan for that minotaur curse they supposedly slapped on the Centaur race (I'd STILL like to know how they got the time to do that, when they were busy fighting alongside Edenia against Shao Kahn).

Similarly, I'd like to see Onaga return, maybe as the next game's boss again. Yeah, Shao Kahn is popular, but his story is stilted and boring; conquer the Earthrealm, conquer the Earthrealm, like a broken record. We could maybe explore a bit deeper into what Outworld was like when he ruled, and what gave Shao Kahn the motive to kill him and take his place. We know that he ruled over a unified Outworld, instead of the jigsaw puzzle that Kahn would eventually lord over, and he was just as conquer-thirsty as his treacherous advisor. Did he rule more fairly than Kahn? Even with is invincible army, it would be pretty damn hard for him to rule over a totally unified Outworld solely on fear. I'd like to see more of his backstory.

As for the runner up, I'd like to see Motaro back, so we can explore more of his past, and hopefully, more of the politics and social structure of the Centaur race. All we really know about them was that they're the natural enemies of the Shokan, they were made Kahn's Extermination team during MK3, they made a peace treaty with the Shokan through Kitana, and somehow, the Shokan cursed them to become minotaurs. Nothing else. We haven't even seen one female Centaur, not even in the background pics for MK3. That could say something right there about Centaur society, but without any more delving into their social structure, we can't know for sure.

Liu Kang and Scorpion. They have the best stories to continue.

Liu Kang - His ending was cool, and I could see that carry into the next Mortal Kombat.
