ok...i have been pondering on this thought awhile on and off time and time again. if the WB straightens things out and makes a reboot film...i wonder if we could see a Mortal Kombat movie game? i mean after all the rivaling with Street Fighter and following capcom all this time...why not? they basically rivaled them making MK vs DC to replicate/rival Marvel vs Capcom...the only thing MK has not did that they have is make a fighting game based on the movie with the actual same actors.
so here is my question...would you like to see it happen or just let the idea die and be burried?

for me...it depends on how good the actors are and how good the movie is but i would not mind as long as it was good and also rated M.

I have to say it'd be a pointless waste of time that'd be better spent on the series and it's next game. If the movie does well, then it's success can help boost the success of the series and the next game rather than making a non canon cash in.

i can see your point but i think it could actually be kinda cool...it does not even need to be like a full on game of the series but i would not mind seeing maybe a dlc game that comes with a special edition movie or something. it would be good for promoting the movie itself and it would fill in the rivalry gap that is missing just for kicks lol.

as for it being completely pointless and a waste of time that could be used for the actual game...that is true but it is the WB and they do have the ability to have another team do the game. also who is to say it has to be a fighting game...it could be something like a short konquest game or something. i dunno...its just a thought and thanx for responding. lookin forward to here others opinions.

If It were boons team doing it. I would accept it. But I dont really want it.

If it were to happen. I could see it taking over as an official Reboot. And although that may be a good idea for some people. Id rather just see a great comeback for our current stretch.

oh no...i could not see that. it would be as canon as the movie itself. if it didnt follow the videogame that means the movie itself didnt. i just figured MK as a game has gimmicks to help sales so why not add a game to the movie ya know.

It would be clever to pull more people into MK. And I see your point. As long as its not one of thos BK xbox360 minigames. lmao

yeah totally dude that would be lame...lol i am such a Sony fan boy. but yeah they could make a cool DLC game and give you codes to unlock it with the movie at release...that would be a good move for the movie alone.
as for the idea of there being a movie game out along with the original game is not that pointless really. movies do it all the time...granted usually not at the same time together but still. the title of the game could have the writer/director's name as a part of the title with the acknowledgment its a movie game of course. i bet it will happen that way with the next Spiderman series of movies and games...they will probably just slap on the director or writers name to the title and end up with something like "James Vanderbilt's Spiderman/Marc Webb's: The Video Game".
in some ways it would be a good move because it could be the reboot of MK1 that a bunch of people on these boards have been wanting.

Hmmmm, this could be very interesting, but, I also feel its unnecessary (at least for now). I can see how it would help to promote the game and the MK world for outsiders, but, I guess I'm just really really interested in seeing the current storyline/games develop, grow, and get closure for some of the events that took place during MKDA, MKD, and MKA.

This might work I guess, but, I rather see it happen after we get at least 2 new next-gen mk games that continue and close what was left hanging and incomplete (almost no bios in MKA, no real endings, no info about many things that took place during MKDA and MKD, etc).

I could see something like this: I don't know if you could get the cast to do it, but I think that it would be kinda fun to maybe have them get scanned and digitized like the old days and bring out a dowloadable game on XBox Live and Playstation Network on the day the movie gets released.

It would look and play like MK1 or MK2, taking backgrounds from the best arenas and backdrops from the movie. Oh and none of that MK3 dial a combo hooeymanure that only diehard MK fans would even bother learning. I know, I said look and play like MK1 or MK2, but it's worth mentioning. This would be old old school MK. The REAL classics! grin

Honestly? If 5 people can make MK1, I can't imagine this game being a horribly taxing matter for the MK team. And TGrant, if I were a gambling man, I'd wager all the money in my wallet that MK9 sees retail shelves WAY before the next MK movie hits theaters.

So while you might prefer the MK team to keep working on the next MK game in the series even if that's the next MK game after the next MK game, I don't think it would be a big deal to have a few people split off and make this game. Or maybe just bring in a small group from another studio to do it.

I kinda like that idea!

we will probably see atleast 1 or 2 more games by than anyway. the movie is in legal limbo as of now but originally it was set for what 2012? so yeah there is plenty of time there and it would be perfect timing for such to happen in your case.
