I wonder how much Noob's full name being in a lifebar means to Ed Boon..... >.>
A thread that serves such importance huh.

Well he is Noob Saibot, which is a very ambiguous name. Is Saibot his last name? If so, it can be left out like Blade in Sonya Blade, otherwise it needs to remain. I think its more like wolf in Nightwolf, if we started calling him "Night" in his lifebar, it would be pretty freaky.

No!
Because Sonya Blade can get away with being called Sonya. Sonya is a good name.
Calling Noob Saibot a Noob, is a n00b thing to say.
Anyway... Its always been Noob Saibot and it should always be... Noob Saibot.

More than likely
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
he won't be either if his MKA Noob-Zero fusion ending has anything to say about it.

Or at least 'NOOB SABOT' because I think Boon had a fight with Tobias, and know John don't give him right on his surname.
However I think reserve name should be 'NOOB ZERO' because in ending his now a fusion of Sub Zero and Noob.

They probably would have simply re-recorded it, if it weren't for this one small, stupid reason:
His name is like... one character too long, and would cross into the roster on the Select Screen. I guess they were afraid it would look to messy, even though Shang Tsung sticks out already.

I can see Noob / his possible replacement character either:
a) not appearing at all, in accordance with the whole supposed "clean slate" thing, or
b) appearing and being very heavily tied in story wise with Sub-Zero, the way that Quan Chi will definitely (almost certainly) return against Scorpion.
As for his name; I think they rerecorded it for MKA- it sounds different, as does Smoke, from the version on the old site taken straight from MK:D (complete with the dodgy sounding "-BSmoke" sample). The renaming of the character for the main game is totally deliberate; whether its:
-Boon using the character as a joke, a la TROLL hammer (Noob and Troll both internet slang, as we know),
-Boon deliberately removing the Tobias reference, for whatever reason.
I honestly see no other reason to delibrately change the way an established character's name is presented, because it does make a difference in terms of hearing it.

Noob Saibot HAS to remain as Noob Saibot, it's simply his name and there is no way around it
it's like calling characters: shang, shao, quan, liu, kung, li, bo, sub
which happens all the time online but it would never be acceptable IN-GAME

I agree with you, Vas. But I want him to be known as Noob Saibot again simply to end the stupid Internet joke that everyone picks up immediately. Yes, we know what n00b means. The Troll Hammer was a good joke for a very short while. It just annoys me.

Nope. During the production of MKD, there were several different versions of Noob-Smoke, including Smoke-Noob, Noob, and Smoke. They were also recycled.
Sorry for the double post.

He should stay as Noob Saibot. Say this - "Damn it I have trouble beating NOOB" would sound stupid and insulting to your intelligence. He has ben Noob Saibot since his debut in MK3 era, so why change it to Noob.
The Troll Hammer is lame, I reckon he needs a scythe, it would look good for his character.
As for Sonya, just keep her name to Sonya. Keep Maj Jax Briggs to plain Jax.
Also on the select screen, you only see Cage instead of Johnny Cage. Prob because it doesn't fit on the char select screen, which is lame.

Just because Tobias left doesn't mean he has to ditch his last name. I swear you were hatched from an egg.

Although I’d like to see his full name, it not being there wouldn’t bother me too much, since I still always think of Noob Saibot first when I rarely see the other term.
Attire- I’d like to see Noob Saibot look more supernatural and less stereotypical ninja.
Similar to the above image, but redesigned (so it doesn’t look like he’s smiling). Maybe even wear something like a ripped up black cloak. But still keep his differences so he doesn't look too much like the grim reaper.
As for moves, Noob Saibot should have a lot more shadow based moves.
If you’ve seen the old film Frighteners (with Michael J. Fox), remember how the ghost would go through the floor/walls and make them protrude outwards, I’m not sure exactly how it could work, but a move based similar to this would be awesome.
I’ve put these in another thread before, but other ideas for his moves could be:
- Noob Saibot raises his arms commanding many black ice spikes to come from the ground underneath the player, if it connects, the ice spikes expand surrounding the opponent. (Tribute to the original Sub-Zero.)
- Noob Saibot makes the opponent’s own shadow to come to “life” and start attacking him or her.

The name of Noob in current terms should be changed back to be read as '''Noob Saibot" by MK8. Since the beginning of Noob Saibot's apperarence, he's been a good fighter, and he deserves to leave this great series with his original name.
