Meh don't really care about fatalities anyway. They're just for the wow factor when you first get the game. After a while they get boring to even perform online when you beat dem turtles

The gore tech will probably be different on last gen in comparison to current gen. I mean judging by stuff like seeing internal organs and shit, you could still see that stuff in MK9 where characters where getting cut in half. Probably the little details like the entrails hanging out of the holes through torsos won't show up on last gen versions.

The sharper visuals, and more things going on in the background will most likely be on Xbox One and PS4. I'm gonna get an Xbox One by the end of this year so I'll get MKX on that, and maybe Xbox360 digital, just to make the 360 complete.

A separate team is handling the last gen, so of course it won't be exactly the same.

I too am curious how much of a downgrade, if any, the last gen will experience.
I may have a PS4 by next year but if not im going PS3. I really can't see a reason why it would look too much worse. From what I have seen the game looks nice but nothing revolutionary graphically.

I think you guys are underestimating how much MK9s graphics have aged over these 3 years. It still looks good, but any game coming out in 2015, regardless of genre, is going to look vastly superior to a 2011 game. Everyone who has seen MKX says its the best looking fighting game that's ever been made, beyond just gore and particle effects. I think there's going to be a substantial difference between the two versions. The stream quality is deceptive, all you have to do is look at those screenshots to see that ain't happening on last-gen. I suspect MKX on last gen will still be an improvement over MK9, but it's going to be an obviously inferior version of the game. Visuals are going to take the biggest hit, if that's no big deal, then you're in the clear. You're probably going to have longer loading times, maybe FMV fatalities. No persistent online mode, whatever that is.

I'm sorry, I have to completely disagree with this. Killer Instinct on XO wouldn't have been done on the 360, and MKX running on PS4 looks way better than KI right now, and the game is still about 8 months until release. MK9 looks good, but looks completely last gen compared to MKX right now. And with NRS exclusively working on the PS4 and XO versions, while the last gen port of the game is being outsourced to another dev to work on..the game is going to look much cleaner, sharper, and so much better than it's last gen counter parts next year. To think when MKX comes out, that the PS3 and PS4 versions won't look too different is almost moronic.

I'm not too concerned about the graphics. I'm perfectly happy with the capabilities of my PS3 and that I'll be able to play the game at all, because I have no intention of getting PSQuad or XBone.

At the same time, we should all bear in mind that graphics are the least important part of a video game. If the gameplay makes the transition, I'll be happy. I watch the FGC Majors anyway, so presumably MKX will be played in all its next gen glory there

The game looks great don't get me wrong, but If you showed me MKX and told me it was running on PS3, I wouldn't have a hard time believing you. I can't say the same for killer Instinct...Maybe it's the quality of the streams that's just deceiving me?

It'll be trimmed down for detail and resolution. I also expect the volumetric/dynamic lighting to be removed.

It'll probably be like a modified MK9 from the base level. It can be done and run at 60 fps.

To clarify, I wasn't calling you moronic, much respect to you. Big time. But I can see what you mean, I think it's definitely the stream quality. I think one interviewer was saying the stream is deceiving to how great the game actually looks, and how smooth the 60 FPS is. Watching MK9 vids on youtube simultaneously with MKX makes it very clear how different the games look. The textures alone on the ground, the trees, and the blood on the actual characters is so crazy. Looking at MK9's blood texture on characters and the ground is very very pixilated. But you could fool someone by saying MKX is running on PS3 because some games even now look great. It's just once you compare the two games, the difference is like night and day.

I'm totally getting it on PS4 for the same reason, I have a feeling X1's version will have worse resolution lol. We totally gotta smack each other around next year.

First party implementation and maintenance is why Im going for the next gen version. Im really surprised that everyone is talking like the graphics are the only issue.

I don't trust that the last gen ports will be translated and maintained with patches, etc PERFECTLY. I want the game that NRS is putting out, not someone elses attempt to emulate it.

Also, netcode. Logic dictates that next gen will have the best netcode and online features. Thats damn near top priority to me.

Bottom line, NRS's priority is next gen. The last gen can take whatever cuts it has to to ship. I want the game that NRS is prioritizing.
