really, mk needs to be dark and serious again. I want a new horrifying story and some new characters that are weird and have never been done before. Bottom line, i want another mk2 when it comes to mood.

The only thing slightly gothic might be a couple of MKDA-MKA arena elements, nothing really big.

I agree, if MK8 is darker more than it is fantasy it would really feel like Mortal Kombat again (MK1, MK2, MK3 series) and the fatalities would feel more violent to look at.

I think MK should have a darker feel, but Friendships were involved in MK2, and some of us see MK2 as "that dark game" MK should be returning its roots to. Does this mean MK should have that feature again?

A skull should be arriving for you soon.
Anyway, there is nothing "goth" about the MK series in either sense. Especially since the focus of the early games were on Liu Kang - a Chinese monk. Monk should destroy one portion while China should destroy another.
As for possibly calling it "demonic" or possibly even "hellish"(thanks to the Netherealm), then sure. Either way, returning the series to its dark times would be great.
Sure, MK2 had Friendships and Babalities, but that was just a small addition that one could easily overlook. Now there's a lot of somewhat cartoonish death traps and other elements that tone the overall feel of the game down.

gothic roots? are you retarded, that was not a joke, seriously are you wearing a crash helmet right now? But on topic I would like to see MK go back to a darker feel like MK3 just without friendships and bablities.

I would like to see good gameplay, good story, good arenas and good background music....forget the color scheme.
I would also like to see intelligent people post in MK forum...because clearly we have gotten away from that....does anyone here even play the game? The problems with MKA have NOTHING to do with the theme. Please tell me your gamertags ....this way if i see any of you fools online I can crush you.

I remember someone mentioning this before deception came out, and i will mention this again.
Mk is still a dark game. The one of the reasons it doesn't seem like that, is because you are use to the game style.
Another game example: tekken. The series has kazuya posessed by the devil, and the game even after two doesn't have that feel. Its because, its expected that some evil spirt will posessed someon else, and their is a menacing figure of doom.
And look at mortal kombat. And another evil tyrant from a another realm, is planning on killing everything and must be stop.
Its repatition.
Now heres the other problem. It you stop this repatition, you may have disappointed fans.

dude....you have it all wrong...people arent going to be disappointed with anything other than the gameplay. If you look at ALL the other games...they all have REALLY bad stories (matter of fact DOA, Tekken, VF all have the same story...which is almost the same story as MK1)....and frankly so does MK now, Nobody cares about the devil is Tekken ...its the awsome graphics and tight gameplay. MK devs for some reason seem to miss the point. Most other games have a story that is poorly thoughtout at best. If Boon gave us a game with graphic like DOA and gameplay like VF with a story as week as Tekken. All he wold need to do is throw in some fatalities and we would all be raving about him.
If you look at most of these threads....they address story...and that is why we continually get a bad game. MK4 they worried about story only....and there was a SHITTY game. In MKDA they realized they needed to overhaul the shitty gameplay...and lets face it the story was weak by MK standards...but it brought life back into the series. In MKD the story was alright...but they tightened up the gameplay....in MKA....the story is interesting....the gameplay is horrendous....and that is why for MK8 they are re-doing the entire gameplay engine. THANK GOD. The only MK game worse than MKA is MK4.
The best 2 MK games were MKT and UMK3...they didnt even change the damn story for these games....they added characters and fixed the gameplay from MK3...the game didnt improve when I was in a dark lair vs the bright desert.
