I need more info on this Carl Weathers as Jax thing...

We have three personas at play here...

Carl Weathers, the real life actor
Jax, the fictional Mortal Kombat Character
& Dillon, Carl Weathers fictional character from Predator

The original Rumor was that Dillon would be a playable character alongside Predator. Many of us doubted that highly, as it seemed like a stupid choice for a DLC character.

Now, the pack describes a skin as "Carl Weathers as Jax" ... what?

That makes it sound like the skin will be Carl Weathers, the actor from Predator, playing the role of the character Jax. IE. The skin will be Carl Weathers in a Jax cosplay.

I'd have assumed what would make more sense would be Jax dressed as Carl Weathers' character Dillon. IE. Jax in a Dillon cosplay.

OR even Carl Weathers, as Dillon, merely presented as a Jax skin, using Jax's moves. But still basically the character Dillon from Predator. But that also doesn't sound like what's described.

So what the Hell is this skin exactly? Because if it's Carl Weathers in a Jax cosplay (which is how the description is worded) that just strikes me as highly stupid, and the worst combination of the three possible, as it has nothing to do with the actual canon of Mortal Kombat or Predator. If it looks like Carl Weathers, and it's not actually Jax, it's not a Mortal Kombat character. If it's not Dillon, it's not a Predator character.

It would be a real life actor... dressed as a Mortal Kombat character, in the actual Mortal Kombat world. Huh?

Have any NRS people made any comments about this on twitter or anything? Or are we just left to guess?

Pretty sure its just going to be like the Green Lantern thing in Injustice, its going to be based on Jax's model and move set, but will be made to look like his character in the from the series.

I believe its jax dressed as Carl , the other way around seems redundant .

It's essentially Carl Weathers starring as Jax Briggs. It'll be Jax just with Weathers' features.

Yea I think it is going to be Carl Weathers, as Dillon in the game but using Jax's powers and xray, fatality, etc

Yup. I immediately thought of John Stewart / Hal Jordan in IGAU.

I'm going to throw this out there though...

Isn't this a bit racist? I mean despite some loose "special forces" similarity, the biggest thing Jax and Dillon have in common is that they're black. I mean why isn't Johny Cage also getting a "Dutch (Schwarzenegger)" skin? Or Kano getting a "Blain (Jesse Ventura)" skin? Just strikes me as odd.

Because I doubt Schwarzenegger would ever allow such a thing. Johnny is getting a Commando skin, which I bet will be inspired by 'Ahnold' though, as close as legally possible anyway.

I personally don't think its racist im sure they had a reason for giving Jax a Dillon skin. Its true they aren't that similar to each other besides being black and being special forces/military but its a cool way to have a Predator/Dillon match up.

Idk I just don't think they were being racist when they decided to make the Dillon skin a thing lol maybe Jax was lacking in the skin department and this was a way to give him another one, or just something fun for the hardcore Predator fans to have.

It's not racist. It's EXACTLY like Marvel drawing Nick Fury to look exactly like Samuel L Jackson. It's just saying its a character designed to look like a real life person instead of a made up face. I think it's a funny and cool addition for a skin. Id much rather see that than a generic gangsta/thug look.

People shouldn't be complaining about this.. They should be complaining that there isn't a Deception Skin listed for SubZero but Scorpion is getting like his sixth skin...

That's a good point. It could entirely be a licensing situation where Arnold and Ventura likenesses were unobtainable/too expensive and Carl Weathers was like "Hell yes!"

None of this really answers the question of what the skin actually is though... and several of the responses are just contradicting opinions on the matter.

We need a NRS person to clear this up. Is it...

Jax dressed as Dillon w/ Jax's moves or..
Weathers dressed as Jax w/ Jax's moves or...
Weathers dressed as Dillon w/ Jax's moves?

Not everyone seems agreed on which it is.

And the DLC pack wording is "Carl Weathers as Jax" which seems like the stupidest choice of the three, as it has nothing to do with Predator, and it's essentially just an actor playing a second likeness for Jax.

i think its gonna be like the way "Street Fighter the movie" game was done, where Raul Julia was Bison, Van Damme was Guile...etc they probably have a scan of Weathers to use as a skin over Jax and fit it with Jax's arms,equipment etc..
