I hope Boon trolls us hard with MKX

posted06/23/2014 11:55 PM (UTC)byUltimateRyuI love the hunt for easter eggs and super secrets in each Mortal Kombat...even if it's just the developers trolling us. For example, on very rare occasions have the game give us a glimpse of an elusive character that has us saying "Who the fuck is that"? Even if the character is not playable, I'd love to see something like this. Kinda like how the whole MK1 Ermac rumor started when the game glitched on rare occasions.

I follow Boon on Twitter and his schtick got old after awhile, to be honest. I'm like Dragnet: just the facts.

22 years on and people still think this happened. It didn't.

Well there really is a debug menu listing in MK1 called Ermacs (short for Error Macro because it is a macro - a command code - that tracks errors) that keeps track of how often the game glitches.
It just doesn't have anything to do with Scorpion turning red. People thought it was a character name because it's directly under the code that keeps track of how many times Reptile has been fought.

I'd like it if more developers pulled a "Jaffe".

Sorry, but I'm afraid the David Jaffe reference is lost on me. What'd he do?

Straight up lied about Twisted Metal's (2012) existence before it was revealed. He intentionally misled fans to surprise them. I want to see Boon lie about stuff and have it show up in the game.

I could totally get on board with that.

Twisted Metal came out in 2012?
Jesus, after that game was announced, I never heard another word about it. Was it not any good?

The title of this thread makes me.... uncomfortable...
Anywho, I would rather he not do that. It's gotten pretty old over the years. Either say "no comment" or straight up lie if you want to surprise people.
Giving people false hope is pretty cruel. Seriously.

Well Boon did flat out say Kiefer Sutherland isn't in the game, because he isn't. He never said he's not voicing a character. Misleading people with simple word play.

Gameplay was great but the story lacked content, wasn't as good as TM: Black.

I know all that (I rewrote his Wikipedia article earlier this year), but there are people who still insist to this day that the glitch itself actually occurred in the game, which I bolded in the original post.

Eh, gameplay was fine, but single player was obviously shoehorned into the game. Multiplayer was fun...when it worked.
On topic. I am apparently one of the very few that do not mind Boon's trolling.

Yeah I want to see more of that.

None of this has anything to do with trolling.

lol the right word to use is misleading.
I dont mind at all, its awesome if you ask me, we'll all be suprised when we get to play the game! BUT BUT BUT, it is time! and the time is NOW to give us a TINY bit of info, maybe about character specific or story related.
Tbh I wish he hadn't revealed MKX untill 2 months or 3 before release!
I've played so many games in my life, but its always the same... knowing a new mortal kombat will come with a wait for almost 1 year its horrible, its the worst wait ever.

Twisted Metal got crippled by it's online problems, Also yeah story mode/actual drivers were lacking.
It was fun though and had a neat little custom thing.
