You know how in video games they sometimes put realistic stuff in them? For example in WWF Attitude their is some real wrestling footage at the beginning. What if when you did a fataility the game switched to like actors getting killed? Like death scenes in horror films. The footage would switch from pologons to realistic video footage. I think that would be sweet.

Interesting idea, but no thanks. I think it'd look weird and be somewhat silly to see in game models replaced suddenly by real live footage of someone in costume being killed.

Its an interesting idea, but i dont think it would work. Plus they'd prolly make it look silly.

That is a good idea for something in the krypt, but not in the real game.
nobrainer •12/07/2005 08:43 PM (UTC) •

I think they should put videos in the Krypt that fans send in.

The idea in itself is not bad...
But think about it, they would need a footage for eache and single one of the possibility (i.e.: Sindel vs Mileena, Sindel vs Raiden, Sindel vs Kitana, Sindel vs BoRaiCho, etc...
Way to heavy!

Heh, I'd hate it for two reasons: It'd look incredibly goofy and out of place, and I'm a sissy who can't stomach live action gore (yet has no real problems with video game or animated gore).

Completely unrealistic, and unnecessary.
The rating would shift too high, and it's arguably a waste of time.
The game is the game. FMVs or live-action sequences for endings works fine in my eyes, but who wants loading times for a quick clip of someone covered in corn syrup?
I really don't understand the 'gore for gore's sake' mentality.

I'd rather see the MK team make the fatalities look more cinematic/dramatic and gut wrenching in the poly world. I think of real actors acting out fatalities and I get bad flashbacks of Sega CD. Even if they took the Need For Speed: Most Wanted approach and polygoned over real people, I still think it wouldn't look right (just like NFS:MW's movies looked more than a bit off). I agree with some of the others, this would've been an idea for the MK1/MK2 era, but not now.
Besides, I think most people look back at the live action stuff from MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero and cringe at the thought of live actors doing anything in an MK game. I dunno, I do at least.

Um...No ? Let's remember this is Mortal Kombat not the latest WWE game.
Might be funny to see in the krypt or something as a comeda extra but that'd be it.

It is a good idea, if it were implemented well. I agree it's more suited to older games.
They'd have to make sure the in-game models looked like lower detail models of the real people, which is a tough job. Also, it's be hard to get all the combinations of characters done- say you have 30 characters with 2 costumes each- that's 3600 movies! Presumably some you could do the two character's parts separately and have them overlaid, but it's still probably more work than it's worth.
I think acted story parts could be good with real actors though. The downside is that the lighting from the scenery is hard to do, and you have to find good actors that look the part, make real costumes, props and that. This is expensive.
I love the resident evil 1 acted bits.
