i feel like, if i had any direction in the mk world..and had money to back it up, aka what they are trying to get from mk vs dcu... i would put so much more time into it. i rememeber growing up, and being influenced by this shit. thinking how cool of a concept for a game could be playable, aka mk1. im basically saying, next game made with the mk name, respect the title...and put time and effort into it. respect the game. it should have an iconic catchy story, characters, and logo. give it an outstanding fighting system now next gen systems, (i mean come on.) bring back mk into the future, represented as the past. make fans come back.

Don't worry man. Give me a couple years and you guys will forget the name mortal kombat. I'm going to be working on my own violent fighting game with great gameplay on the new xbox 360 framework XNA.

Ahem. Not to be disingenuous or rude or anything, but do you know how hard it is to get in the industry?

I heard only 1% of the top 1% actually have their games on shelves. Think about that for a moment man. The Junk yard is filled with people who have tried and failed. Yet again, if you can do it, my ultimate respect for you. And I mean it.

See man, thats just it. :) WIth Xbox 360's new community games channel, (which will be available I believe sometime this November) which is on xbox live, you can charge people up to 10 dollars to play your game. And if it gets alot of attention, MIcrosoft said something about promoting it.

Don't quote me on this but I read that 1% of xbox live users is about 50,000 people. If I were to charge 10$ per download of my game and 1% of people downloaded it that would come out to $500,000, with Microsoft taking 30% of that and my team 70%. So it wouldn't be about getting into the industry anymore really since this new outlet is going to reach people everywhere and my revenue would be coming from them.

I plan to work on the game as long as necessary to make it look professional but since I've got a team of people going already, the time to work on it isn't going to take as long as I thought.

check out this site if you want to learn more XNA

And what exactly new will this game offer on a then-outdated console system?

I agree with you immensely. Mortal Kombat needs to change and in a dramatic way. They really need to get with the times and become a game fighting fans (casual and hardcore) will both enjoy instead of laugh at (at least the hardcore do). New characters should have the potential to become iconic, the main story and as well as the bio's need to be deep and compelling (as do the characters personality and fighting style), gameplay should give you more control and variety (needs to have lots of depth) without the gimmicks (like MK vs DC Universe, no offense to people who like that game), fatalities should make people say "What the F*** was that 0,O), and overall the game really needs to be dark, gritty, unforgiving, and FUN.
As for time...well it really isn't up to the MK team; their bosses tell them when the game will be released, their budget, and other things that I don't know.
Not to sound mean, but the MK Franchise may need to be bought by another company with a bigger budget (and keeping the MK team or most of them) so MK can have more time to develop (hopefully) and be a bigger game.
Anyways that my opinion. I'm hoping MK9 becomes "The" Mortal Kombat game we have all been waiting for.grin
