two new tweets from Ed Boon suggest the wait for news will continue for quite some time yet.

RT @maddawg775 @noobde Any chance of another Mortal Kombat being revealed at E3 this year? EB: Not likely.

RT @Real_A_Cullip1 @noobde any plans on another MK coming out any time soon? EB: Soon? No.

i wouldn't be surprised if we don't see another MK for this console gen.. i say at least 2 more years and possibly for a new console..

its typically every two years for MK but i can see it being closer to 3 years now that WB owns MK..

and thats not really a bad thing outside of a longer wait you can expect better quality..

Q3 2013.

Don't take that as the time span that I would want to hear about the news... this is just me being realistic.

I'm pretty sure the company would want to work on other games rather than Mortal Kombat, since there were news about that a while back.

I don't know why anyone would bother asking Boon if there would be anything about Mortal Kombat presented at E3, the latest MK game has been out for a year... It's not like you still can;t enjoy the game.

Wait until 2013, late-ish maybe. Then we'd probably get some information. And that kind of information wouldn't be so big either.

Well the movie is due out some time in 2013, probably around fall. It would be great if they had a movie tie-in game with quality production.

Ideally, it'd be nice to see a new game coincide with the next movie, but I doubt we'll be that lucky. I also don't think that we'll see a new MK game on current gen consoles.

If anything, I think that the new console launch windows will determine when the next one comes out, which to me means anywhere from late 2013 through late 2014.

So yeah, if we're going to see MK at E3, it'll be next year's show and even then, I still kinda doubt it.

The way WB has been supporting MK9 in the tournament scene I think the previous posters are correct in saying the next MK will be on the next-gen consoles.

However, I think there is a chance NetherRealm has been working on a different game in the meantime. My hope would be a full DC universe fighter. Also, it is likely that NetherRealm wanted to do something other than a fighter and they are doing that now.

well, you got that right about the DC fighter. now, yesterday Boon retweeted several peoples' posts regarding Shaolin Monks, after an article pointed to MKMSZ as being proof that MK shouldn't switch genres. he's obviously fully aware that fans want a sequel, but who knows how long it'll take before we get one? maybe, one's in development right now ;) ?!

Im gonna stand by my word

The next mortal kombat game will be on next gen systems

I think that will happen and its the best option honestly

So they can totally revamp everything, new engine, new art style

a fresh new take

Maybe toward the end of the current gens life it would be cool if yehy released an mk spinoff but not an actual mk game

The next MK game is better fit for next gen systems

and also they should be focused on INjustice now

they will be doing that until 2013 and still need to support it after with dlc and that shizz

If next gen consoled come out end of 2013 ro early 2014 its not worth making the next mk game on current gen
