The MK arenas were awesome the way they were. So much better looking than other 2d games' levels.
I miss 2d MK, but unfortunately, 3d gaming is here to stay.
I just hope SF4(if Capcom makes it) stays 2d.

MK was awesome in 2D when in came out up till Trilogy, but it has evolved beyond that now. It should remain 3D and move forward in that direction.
However if they ever were to make a side game then it might be ok. Plus Kerri Hoskins is ever ready to reprise her role as Sonya.

i could maybe see it as like a adventure game where it shows old characters from the first 3 MK games telling something we never about Mk before....but other that i see no purpose.

I'd rather keep going with 3D.
2D could be a mini game similar to MK4's play style.
The Photoreal look they can do, like with Fight Night Round 3.

THey definitely need to release another 2D mk, no question about it, hands down.
I say they release a 2D mk at the same time as mk8 (3d). I dont think theyve ever released 2 new mk games simultaneously. It would be a good idea.
Theres a problem with the current view that 3D fighters are the next step in fighting games. As if its a step closer to a perfect fighting game than a 2D game is. NOT TRUE. 2D fighting games and 3D fighting games are 2 different entities. You cant really pit them in the same class and then say "3d is superior". 2 different things, 2 different game genres that happen to have something in common; a competitive fighting theme.
Ever since cooridor shooters came out, they didnt stop makin fighting games. So in the same respect, just becuase 3D fighters have come out doesnt mean they need to stop making 2D fighters either.
I think a new photoreal high definition crisp digitized 2D fighter mk would revitalize mortal kombat. todays digitization technology is far better, Id like to see what they can do with it.

Actually If it's 2D, they can still make it look amazing. They could use prerendered stuff like what you see in FMV's.
The animations could flow at 60 fps
etc.
