I have seen support for Kung Lao grow since the release of MK:SM. He has potential to be powerful and has a great trademark (Hat) completely original. He is very slick and "cool". He also seemed more angry in MK:SM if they could entie (is that a word??) this into MK7 i think he could be a great hero. He would need to be more powerful, more than his fellow Shaolin Monk Lui Kang. (I never think he should of died but i am glad he has been revied, he is the only one of the heros i am glad about)

Seen as though Kai has been out for so long i could see him also returning. Remember he posses Raidens old Lightning staff, he may have been training with it and so on so he may be a lot more powerful now.

I think Kung Lao should takeover as the next hero of MK. It looked like they were building up to this in MKDA, with him looking to avenge Liu Kang's death, and training with Bo Rai Cho. Then MKD shat on him from a great height, reducing him to cutscene cameos, while turkey boy Liu came back and Midway tried to force an all new hero, Shujinko onto us.

Since Shujinko really doesn't work as a hero, and most people simply don't like him, I think they should go back to developing Kung Lao as the future hero and champion. Although Liu Kang was cool in the first two games, he was always a bit too goody two shoes holier than thou to make a good hero for MK, Kung Lao is undeniably a good guy, but he seems to have that killer edge that Liu always lacked.

If it isn't Kung Lao, then I think the other character most likely to become MK's next hero is Sub Zero, as he has also had a lot of build up in this direction. He reformed his clan as a force for good, gained a lot of new powers, and has discovered that his elder brother is now an evil wraith. After the mess they made with Shujinko, I strongly disagree with having an all new character turn up out of nowhere to take this important role in the series.

Agreed!!

I don't mind a hero. As long as its a good hero that makes sence and a) doesn'tsquable like a turkey b) doesn't piss you off in MKD konqeust mode and c) is Sindel

I think what would be good if there wasn't one main hero and the "hero" simply depended on who the boss was. Like Onaga's the current boss and going by the story, it'd be most fitting for Shujinko to be the one to destroy him.
Now say in the future, just as example, Noob Saibot is the next boss? That's a job for Sub-Zero and/or Scorpion. Say, another example, Mileena were to become boss someday. That's a job for Kitana and/or Jade. And so on and so forth. Let the hero be decided by who the villain is.

That would be ideal...but I'll be honest, I don't see it happening. So I guess if there is to be a main hero I think it should be either Sub-Zero or Kung Lao.
Not Liu Kang again. Not Shujinko.

And not Scorpion. If anything...he's the anti-hero. Never the hero-hero.

I like the idea of suspension and unpredictability in the Mortal Kombat story. Like in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance when we were aware Liu Kang was no longer in commision, people were speculating who would fit his shoes. There was no direct protagonist in the story.

I see that the struggles in Earthrealm now, are all joint efforts by warriors who are willing to give their life to protect what they hold sacred. The whole idea of where, if all else fails send Liu Kang is stale now, we have already seen it.

Kung Lao is an incredible character in Mortal Kombat but I want to point out his flaws in his personality aswell and make him appear inferior to boss characters as well as all the other characters on his side. It makes the fans worry about if the good guys will actually come through this time.

Deception had all the warriors die in the end without the role of a hero, and from that it had many positive feedback from other fans. It would be a foolish move to keep those characters dead, so they were brought back. All the events that have happened so far are to make the story not seem predictible and thus make the Mortal Kombat story different.

I say have no direct hero involved, have each of the characters have an equal oppurtunity to show their efforts and their actions made in the next Mortal Kombat. Like I was always told, don't let the weight be carried on your shoulder alone because your knees will give out. And that phrase was visually portrayed in two examples in the Mortal Kombat game.

First there was Liu Kang's death in the intro movie in Deadly Alliance, he assumed the role of alpha male for Earthrealm and was a direct target for both Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, because of that he was overwhelmed and that was his downfall.

The next example is Raiden's transformation. Raiden had always tried to make a stand since his days in Mortal Kombat II and he always was a man of action. Because of his valiant efforts on his actions alone he began to loose faith in mortals untill Liu Kang and his allies arrived. His mind was set that mortals are trully inferior when he was defeated by the Deadly Alliance also.

I love the idea that in Mortal Kombat, nobody trully has the upper hand. Why not show each of the characters' fears aswell as strengths and pride. It would trully show why they even call the game MORTAL Kombat in the first place and give the fans to connect with their favorite characters to a closer level.

Hmmm..Im not sure what I want. No heroes sounds cool, but there being one hero makes mk a bit epic imo....Im not sure. I just dont want something predictable or stupid.

Liu Kang and Kung Lao: Predictable and boring.
Scorpion: Lame and stupid.
Sub-Zero and Sindel: Hmmm...they have developed an interesting story...I think they could do a good job.
Johnny Cage, Sonya: Heroes since day 1, they could do a good job.

I honestly dont like that idea...kind of limits creativity and story twists.
