Alright, I'm really sick of seeing the same old plot/storyline - game after game. Ever since MK2, it's been the same story: "Earth realm is being invaded; the rules have been broken: FIGHT!!".

Well, I’m sick of that same old story. The history of the first MK game is great, it had ancient Chinese/Japanese mythology and was mainly about respect, honor, and brutality. The story was great, simple, flowed: "Mortal Kombat, a tournament held, if earth realm loses this tournament Earth realm shall be invaded, it's in your hands to protect Earth realm". Simple, sleek, sexy, am I wrong? The plot was sooo great, because so many things could have evolved from the tournament: Deception, demise, anger, peace, tranquility. Anything.

But ever since MK2 (The first time the Outworld was invading earth realm scenario occurred, it's been the same damn plot. Earth realm is being invaded, NO RULES, GO CRAZY AND KILL EVERYONE! I guess it's a damn good thing that the characters (some) have semi-strong storylines or else the whole thing would just be like Tekken, Dead Or Alive, or even Street Fighter.

It's getting really annoying, and I guess the down-fall of it all was MKTrilogy, which finally made me sick of the same-old-storyline.

Now I could be completely wrong about the timeline/storyline, but lets take a look at what we have here:

MK1 - Tournament, make or break earth realm
MK2 - Rules broken, earth being invaded.
MK3 - End of the world feeling, earth still being invaded...
UMK3 - More characters.. Look. Earth is STLIL being invaded.
MKTrilogy - Ok, last time. Earth was being invaded, but now... WE HAVE BOSSES, it's still being invaded!!!!!!
MK4 - Uhm....Invaded...
MKDA - Deadly Alliance... Semi farfetched storyline, but ear realm is still being invaded by "evil forces"
MKD - Look...Outworlds emperor is invading the realms.... Thank god it wasn't just Earth realm!

Now to me, it's just gotten dull. And I’m playing and trying to get the same entertainment I did back when playing MK1 on Genesis/Arcade/SNES. But c'mon, give us a tournament back.

Let there be rules, not for fighting of course -- but the limits of how the next game is going to happen. Don't let every realm just keep getting invaded, give us a plot.
