Spoiler warning
"Unfortunately we couldn't get to play the story mode yet at the studio visit, but the game's story jumps 25 or so years into the future from where MK9 ended. From what we've seen and heard the ruler of the Outworld is now Kotal Khan and Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade have a daughter called Cassie. Even Scorpion has a new Sub Zero to face off against. The biggest question mark right now must be Kung Lao, who has proudly aged and seems to have escaped the last game's ending."
I always though that it was a new Sub-Zero after that one Ed Boon interview where he said there was a "sea of Sub-Zeros".
The debate can end.

If this is information is right then I was correct in that it was a new sub-zero after all. So given the dialogue so far it would be another brother, right?

I agree with you, In canon there is no Third brother if I'm not mistaken. Unless all the Lin Kuei Ninjas refer to each other as brothers I don't see how this could be a New sub-zero. We already have scorpion calling him murder and Quan Chi telling him that he has his brother's soul.
I would get it if Scorpion just calls every guy that wears blue murder but why in the world would Quan Chi confuse a new sub-zero with either of the two old sub-zeros.
Again this could be a new sub-zero but the debate is not over.

Idk I remember in one of the intro dialogues between sub and scorpion he was like "we are tired of maintaining our innocence". Naturally I took that to mean he and his brother but maybe Kuai Liang and Bi Han have somehow fused their souls into one new body. Sorta like how ermac talks about himself as "many". Voila. New character. New sub zero but still not pissing off fans of sub or noob because it would leave a lot of doors open.

He said "I tire of maintaining our innocence", there was no "we" in there. Also Quan Chi's "I have your brother's soul" and SZ's "I am not my brother!" lines would make no sense if that were the case.

Remember when EGM magazne confirmed that the Sub in the intro trailer was the older Sub-Zero?
Just saying.
Just saying.

Unless the character covers multiple identities.... kinda like how MK9 had Bi Han and Kuai Liang as one playable character.
So, they might be multiples, only distinguished by alt costumes. Or variations.
MK4 had Kuai Liang don Bi Hans original costume. After it was over, he resumed his maskless primary.

Them being distinguished by variations would make little sense. It would mean both brothers are voiced by Steve Blum instead of having their own separate VOs, as there certainly haven't been any reports of SZ's voice actor suddenly changing with what variation he uses. And actually being distinguished by variations? That's a pretty poor distinguishing factor, and not really what the variations are meant for. I would hope they're never in the same room together if they have the exact same voice and almost the exact same appearance, as it would be quite hard to tell them apart!
Even if this Sub-Zero is Bi Han and there is a Kuai alt, it seems pretty clear that the Sub-Zero they've been showing in all of the trailers, promotional art, etc. is going to be the Sub-Zero mainly featured in the story. Kuai was in more promotions for MK9, as opposed to Bi Han, and was featured more as SZ than him in the story.

Im fairly certain that both Kuai and Bi Han had different voice actors in MK9. Not sure why you're hung up on that.
I would actually be surprised if at least one of Sub's variations WASN'T a different character.

I know, that's the point. Why regress and give them the exact same voice actor? Not much point in making any of the variations a different character if he has the has exact same voice, look, etc. Variations aren't alt costumes, and how could you even know which one of them is a different character? For all we know, when it comes to story mode, you'll be able to pick your variation.
