Too many of MKD's newcomers were, imo, just fillers. It's not just that they were underdeveloped, but a couple of them were completely unnecessary, adding nothing worthwhile to the story or the game. I would actually like to see the Orderrealm/Chaosrealm developed further, and being more involved with the main storyline, I like both Hotaru and Darrius, and think that, done correctly, could add more to the series. Darrius himself may have been a rush job (they said he was the last character made), but I like the idea behind him, a revolutionary, and think more can be done with it.
But was there really any need for Kobra and Dairou? What real purpose do these two losers serve? Where can they go from here, Kobra seems to only be there as an easy guy to kill off (like Hsu Hao in MKDA), and there is nothing to suggest Dairou achives anything worthwhile, so will probably die or drift away. But to be fair, it's not only new MKD characters who are fillers, Nightwolf and Tanya are guilty of this as well, both having proven to be pointless comebacks
