I've seen them all, and I approve of less as the games go by.

To me, the best fatalities from the past MK games were simple. MK3 was probably the worst for fatalities in that the majority of them were cartoony, fake, and wtf-ish. Rediculous examples like Darrious' make over, and the countless ripping out of bones (which were then placed in the opponent) from newer games are lame! How many explosions with 20 legs and 15 arms can we take??? Short and sweet are the best way to go if MK wants to rehaul itself and be brutal and believable. The fatalities also must actually make sense for the character..... Be original to their story or special moves. Not just for the hell of it.

Here are a list of great fatalities that should serve as templates for MK8.

Nightwolf's MK3 prayer fatality and his Tomahawk to the head in Deception. Both of these are short, simple, but to the point., and fit his character.

Shang Tsung in MK2. I still love the lift and soul departure fatality. It was simple and fit his character.

Scorpion and Kung Lao's from Deadly Alliance.... Both were a little comical, but devestating. Both made use of the character specific special moves.

Mileena's chomper from Deception. This would be unbelievable and stupid for another character, but it fits her. Jade's head on a stick is also a little comical, but it made use of a character specific item, and was brutal!

yeah, well one thing I hope is that they go back to the old ways and get rid of "create-a-fatality".. I think the best fatalities in the series where from MK2 or MK shaolin Monks (I really liked those ones, except the ones with Kung lao's bunny, but that's just me) and I loved the hara kiri's to because they all looked so brutal..
and maybe they should add a whee bit more realism to fatalities.. like if you keep hitting a guy he doesn't explode but it will break bones and make him pummel to the ground..

That's what I'm hoping for. The explosions are rediculous. I still think Nightwolf's tomahawk to the head is the best example I can give for how fatalities need to be.... That COULD actually happen. Another one that I forgot to mention is Kenshi's tele-rip from Deception. Is this realistic? No, but it at least incorporates his special ability.

Shaolin Monks had some pretty cool fatalities, because it appeared as though the MK team put a lot of time into detailing them (had less characters to worry about ).

I think it would be cool is if they put some of the classics back in. Because Ed Boon said that they want to reinvent the franchise so I think it would be cool to bering back some of the old stuff and make them better kinda like what they diid with Shaolin Monks.

I would also like to see some really sick new ones though too and i hope that this really unexpected thing they are doing is NOT gonig to suck because if it does then its gna really ruin MK for me

Classics have been put in before.... and again... and again.
My whole philosophy on the classics is to put in the old game if you want to see them so badly.

I want brutal but realistic and believable (to some extent).

I agree. I loved the fatality in which Kung throws his hat into the ground, lays the opponent down and grabs there legs then pulls them crotch first through the spinning hat.

Here are some I thought up.
Sub Zero: Sub kicks the opponent back and freze's there entire body cept there head. Sub then hits high kicks taking both arms off then punches his head off.

Scorpion: Scorpion swings his spear round and throws it at the opponent. The rope swings round the neck about five times then the spear stabs them

Baraka: Baraka kicks the opponent back and stabs a blade up through the bottom of there jaw so it pokes out. He then stabs them twice before dropping them.

See, some are long but not long as in they waste time.
