Escaping deathtraps in future games.

I think that they should add this option on some of arena deathtraps.
They can make it to look like this:

You are knocked on a railway and in the bottom of the screen appears a random combination of 5-6 buttons you have to press quickly and without mistake to escape the railway and continue fight.

Certain characters can escape some deathtraps that other cannot, for example Onaga, Nitara they can fly because they have wings so they can escape falling off a cliff.

Blaze can escape being knocked in lava, because he is made of lava.

And maybe some characters like cyborgs (Smoke,Sector) can escape being knocked in lava or acid but they lose 20-30% of health if they succeed.

So what you think?

I like it but you should do Test Your Might instead of pressing buttons really fast, but mainly I love the idea.

I agree with you both on deathtraps being escapable but if certain characters escaping a certain deathtrap and others cant like someone said then that might make the game a little unbalanced in certain aspects, what ultratron said about a test your might option to escape is perfect and is more balanced.

The concept ideas are all cool and I really like them, but during a match, while fighting obviously, it might get very tiring and boring to wait for someone to escape, etc. It will make the excitement dry and quickly become something boring.

A much better way to do it is like this (imo):

1.- You get knocked into the deathtrap.

2.- You quickly press a general and fast button combination (like the vreakers for example) that allow you to escape right away.

3.- If thrown back for a second time, you cant escape, you die.

Maybe the other person could tap buttons also:

Like if someone's hanging on a ledge, one guy would press a button to knock the other guy off, and the other guy would press a button to get back up.

that's a good Idea. Because It would suck if you could just keep escaping deathtraps. But a way to escape is cool. The only thing I would suggest is somehow for this to get you back closer to the center of the arena, to avoid being kicked/grabbed and thrown back in instantly.

I love this idea! it reminds me of Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict, where you have to press buttons to do a Coupe de Grace.

Imo, don't really like this idea because what if you like the cliff arena, but the character you picked doesn't have wings.
than if it's scorpion, he'll use his spear.

or actually, they could just have generic ones for everyone else, like grabbing a ledge, and climbing back up quickly.

I like that idea, I could imagine an animation going on where One character is trying to hold another character's head into a grinder and they are struggling back and forth. The player who has more might wins.

Now this is a really good idea.


I hope they'll at least make it possible to escape deathtraps, and that they consider some of the ideas posted in here.

but hang on... when playing two player, the guy who just knocked u in there should tap a certain button repeatedly to make the other guy (the hopeless sap) have a rougher time to do the button combination like... how to put it in a way to make sense...

like in wwe, ur in a submission hold one guy presses x to put more pressure and making the whole box shake making it harder for the other guy to see where the center is so he cant have the x mark land in the center for an escape.

so take this thing and place it with the deathtrap, and there is ur minigame, no more super komat kart

sorry if this is like confusing but if u understand what the hell im saying i thank u, it takes a long time for me to finish describing something.

here's a lil masta list of what each character could....SHOULD do:

Scorpion- Spear

Sub-Zero- uses his kori blade to graso the edge

reptile- his tongue (duh)

rain- shoots a jet of water straight back to the safe zone

ermac- telekinesis

noob- black magic stuff

smoke- smoky magic stuff

sektor- an arm comes out of his chest and pulls him to the safe zone

cyrax- exploding teleport back to SZ (safe zone)

baraka- climbs up with his blades

bo rai cho- puke rocket (lol)

chameleon- randomly copies what one of the ninjas do

Daegon- a godly leap

Darrius- gaunlet climb

Drahmin- picked up by a swarm of flies

Frost- ice jet up

Havik- dislocates one of his legs in a way to hook back to safety

Hotaru- he lifts off his pokey thing

Hsu Hao- laser jet up

Jade- greeny teleport

Jax- simply climbs up with his arms

Cage- green goo jet up

Kabal- hookswords

Kai- uses some hook made from various animal parts

Kitana- waves her fans to jet up

Kobra- spins around really fast and flies up

Lao- wind teleport

kang- bicycle kick up

Meat- turns into a steak and lands on the SZ

Motaro- donkey leap...i guess....????

Mokap- some guy goes lights, camera, action! and in a flash mokap is in the SZ

Nightwolf- spirit float

Shinnok- the skeleton hand pulls him from the trap to the SZ

Shujinko- He just dies cuz no one like shujinko

Sindel- warps her hair into a hand to pull her up

Sonya- pulls herself up with her legs

Strkyer- hooks up with the stun gun

Tanya- fire blast up

Taven- the same as Daegon

Dairou- pulls out a random hook and gets up

umm... this idea is stupid okay? really stupid why would people have their own way to kill someone in a death trap when you're gonna see the same thing over and over and over again? dude, this will get boring very fast.

Scorpion escaping from a pit with his spear would be cool, but other characters would have to be stretched excessively to get out of similar situations. Pits and spikes would be best left to instant death, but having a veriety of other situations that are escapable to different degrees is a good idea. Here's some verieties that could be used.

Damage over time
A player must tap a button or short combo of buttons. The longer he takes, the more damage he takes.

Beat the clock
A player must tap a button before something falls on him or similar instant death scenario.

Competative
Both players tap: one to activate the trap and one to escape.

No hope for survival
Sudden death no matter what.

No matter what, deathtraps would have to be dangerous enough that a player would want to take the time to maneuver an opponent into one and avoid them himself rather than just ignoring them knowing the damage will be minimal or easily escapable.

I agree with that since my friends really hate it when they have me to one hit and then i punch them into a death trap and win. Futher more it should say factality when a victory is won with a death trap weather it was done in the Finish Him sequence or not.

I agree because that way the victim would have a chance of getting away while the opponent can try and force him/her into the deathtrap. Also, the test your might thing is perfect for these situations because people would just get frustrated with the botton combinations, but all death traps shouldn't have to involve this mini-game, for examle if you get knocked off a cliff and you don't manage to grip the edge so you fall on a bed of spikes that's it your dead. FATALITY. But maybe it would be cool if you had to press one certain button quick enough to grab on to the cliff to make it more challenging, maybe... But the only people that should be able to escape that with no problem is Onaga, Nitara, Sindel and Ermac but that should be automatic, no buttons involved.

Give everyone an escape special move that has the same combination for everyone but with different animation. Like Scorpion spearing and Sub-Zero ice sliding or ice jettisoning, Rain doing a water pulse, Reptile with his tongue, Others who have no real means of escaping like Johnny Cage would throw their projectile and temporarily disable the trap. Like having Cage jam two spinning spike pillars with green plasma goo. Or Liu Kang melting the part of the trap that was going to kill him with dragonfire. Some traps would be instakill
