I just want a Story Mode ala MK9, but without chapters.
Just an interactive movie, you play certain characters through a number of
non-consecutive fights.
I don't give a crap about learning "moves with a character", if I want to do that there's always Practice Mode.

MK:DA's Konquest was kinda ok story-wise, but I'm not interested in "deal a command" mode.

MK: Deception was luckluster as story and as gameplay.

If you want a MK RPG just make one.

lol every time the same answer!! MK RPG is separate from the fighting game :)
Why bother with story mode, just make god damn kool intro and leave it alone or make a Konquest mode and LIVE the story. That's all.I encourage others with the same opinion as the user before that post not to participate in that thread .Ok 10x :)

Simple. Nope! Prefer a story mode like they did in 2011.

I'd rather have a story mode.

The problem with the whole open world exploration shit is it makes ONE guy the main character of the story. It's supposed to be an ensemble. EVERY character is supposed to be a main character of their own story and you should get to see them all.

That's the problem with story mode chapters too, though. You don't get to see all of everybody's story (and you don't get to see ANY of some people's stories, i.e. Reptile). Once you've played Sonya during MK1, you don't get to play Sonya again during MK3 so she just stands around a fucking church listening to people talk instead of finishing her feud with Kano.

That's why I liked Deadly Alliance best. Every character got their own story mode, essentially.

Yes and No.

I want Konquest to be a deep and "complete" game like it were its own action adventure. With that being said, more time has to be put into it. So I wouldn't mind if Konquest were part of a special edition for those who would want to pay extra for it. Those who don't care for it, can get the regular edition without Konquest.

i'd have a story mode for each character. like scorpion mk4 story, then mkda story, mkd story.

then it switches to say reptiles mk4 story, then mkda story, then it switches to onagas story from mkd.

i never really cared fo konquest but what of what i saw in mk2011 i liked. just improve apon that because i heard some characters got better treatment than others in story mode.

have certain characters stories intertwine like for example if you choose quan - chi story it eventually involves shang tsung. if you choose shang tsung it evenetually involves quan - chi. so forth.

so simple answer.

no konquest.

yes improved story mode.

I definitely prefer a Story Mode. Konquest is cool and all but I feel like it should be it's own game.

So it's a NO from me.

I miss the tutorial style konquest from MKDA, I know they touched upon something similar in Kombo challenge from MKvsDC, but that was totally evil and had only a few kombos and specials that were of any use, the rest were plain diabolical.

With MK9 i was expecting the chapters to go thus: 1st fight "warm-up" tutorial, learn moves, kombos etc, subsequent fights "normal" fights increase difficulty gradually.

I thought that the concept was somewhat intriguing in MK:DA. It felt like an interactive tutorial and I kinda dug that.

But if we're talking about a method for telling the story of the game? MK9's storymode all the way. It's not even close for me.

I wasn't a huge fan of the chapter format (though I didn't really mind it as much as others), but it really would've been nice to have been to play as the bad guys as well.

Still, I'll take this any day of the week, month or year over Deception's Konquest mode. The way in which you had to be at the right place at the right time to find certain characters, the sitting and waiting, the graphics, the fetch quests... To me, it was a fantastic idea that was probably realized to about 20% of it's actual potential.

Give me a Mortal Kombat adventure game, but definitely don't try and shoe-horn it in to my MK fighting game.

Just my opinion.

MKDA's konquest was great in terms of storytelling. MKD wasn't bad but if they intend to make me walk with a totally new char, or one i don't care about for the whole ride, just forget it.

Sticking with chapters telling the story of the characters isn't a bad way to do. I'd love if there was a way to choose which chapter i'd do first and next but other than that no prob with it.

i want both, but at the same time i want none. not that i don't want story, i love story. just prefer it in a different way.

- konquest was really fun, i had more fun with it than chapter mode.

One problem tho.1 main character didn't work
(maybe) the only way i see this could work with 1 main char. is to control Raiden. exploring the realms/open world, just try to see whats happening and ensure that certain things don't happen. but when it comes to fights etc. you switch character that connects that time line.
but than again Konquest mode is like having 2 games in 1, and as great it sounds, most times it isn't. in a way its like having 2 half games. tho i liked MK: DA, MK:D & MK:A.

- Mk9 story mode was an ok idea but less good executed in my opinion.

the chapters felt kinda rushed and forced. and it didnt gave all the characters the attention we might wanted. they could re-do story mode but than i prefer them to have it told entirely different. maybe like someone is reading a book and we follow it.

maybe they could go for something like,,

once you have chosen your fighter in a story mode that works like an arcade mode. it unfolds his specific story while you progress. on the way you get to see some CGI movies that explain/show something of that char. or tell his current time line. this way every char. gets his way to shine and as fans, we get a step closer in to our favorite fighters mind. it should not require more time than the spend in chapter mode or konquest mode. 6 to 10 CGI and 6 to 10 scrolling text moments (per char.) could be enough.

in the end i prefer a real story to be told in a action/adventure game as they did in Mortal kombat shaolin monks. this way the story and the char. get the most attention story wise. and the the fighting games get all the attention they need in terms of fighting.
