I think that Hara-Kiri was very interesting in MK:D. This would be a good time for it to come back. If it was to come back, there should be two hara-kiris. There should be a stage hara-kiri (jumping off a cliff, etc.) and a personal hara-kira (self-decapitation, etc.). For example, in the subway (just for reference), they would jump in front of an on-coming train. What do you think?

I never really got into these. Some of these were cool, but in essence they are very tacky. I don't know how much room they take up, but I'd rather see two Fatalities per character. In addition to that, update the Armageddon Fatality feature to become a new "Brutality" option. Beyond that, if I was going to have something else, it would be character-specific Fatalities.

For example, anyone who defeated Kabal would be able to rip his respirator mask off, and watch him as he struggled to breathe. For Mileena, any character could punch her teeth down her throat, and they can cut up her throat and insides. Just ideas.

Yes.

theres nothing worse while losing online than watching the fatality against you. Its great to get off the hara-kiri, but it would have to be hard or a 6 button combo.

its like "you get the win, but IM THE ONLY ONE who kills me.

I lost very little on mkd, but i loved ripping thos things off. If it was harder and somebody did one of them before i could do an easier inoput for a fatality, id have nobody to blame.

"Yes" to hara-kiri.

Yeah. Hara Kiris are awesome.I mean the idea is awesome, most of them were lame, but we'll hope for better.

And I want hara kiri + 2 fatalities + brutality + stage fatalities.

Also dude your idea about suicide where there are stage fatalities is awesome.

I loved them then and would love to see them return. Even if some of the ideas repeat, they can be done a little differently like a gun to the head instead of sais.

In addition, a one-liner would be awesome. Here are a few examples :
Not by you!
I have shamed my ancestors
Ah fffffff (bang)
I don't think so!
Ahhhhhhh!
Here I come daddy!
Head's up! (tosses his own head)

Hara Kiri's a really good idea in theory, but honestly? A lot of them looked really lame in practice. Let's see:

Jade throws her boomerang and decapitates hereslf: Lame
Kenshi does a traditional side sword slice: Perfect
Scorpion breaks his own neck: WTF? Lame
Mileena brains herself with her own sais: Lame
Baraka chops own head off with blade: Both predictable and lame
Sub Zero freezes self, then falls over: Very lame
Sindel jumps in the air and lands on head: Excrutiatingly lame
Havik pulls off his own head: Lame + Impossible = Impossibly lame
Rayden electrocutes himself: Also predictable and lame
Li Mei throws sword up, bends down, decapitates self: Lame
Kabel impales himself with his hooksword: Lame
Ermac bashes face in to ground until it explodes: Also impossibly lame
Nightwolf throws tomahawk in air, hits heart, falls: Lame
Bo Rai Cho umm... gets fatter and explodes?: Horrifically lame
Noob throws stars up and hits himself and dies: Weak and lame
Smoke uses arm controller to blow himself up: Predictable and lame
Tanya pulls out her own femurs and stabs in face: Sillier than it sounds.
Shujinko throws up swords, chops own arms off: Lame
Hotaru pulls his own head off: Um, Havik anyone? Lame
Ashrah spins until there's no more Ashrah: Lame
Dairou bends himself in half: Nonsensical and lame
Kobra pulls out his own heart: Unoriginal, but slightly less lame
Darrius pops his own head with his hands: Lame
Kira stabs herself in the gut with her own knives: Alright, I guess
Liu Kang wraps himself in green mist and disintegrates?: Lame
Goro does the double sai stab: About as good as you can expect from him
Shao Khan throws sledgehammer up, hits self, head explodes: Lame

So by my count, that's SIX characters that throw their weapon up in the air and kill themselves with it.

Three people kill themselves by destroying their own head with their bare hands.

At least 23 lame ways to kill yourself in MK:D.

Honestly, alot of these looked really silly (Sindel, I'm looking at you). I get the idea of doing yourself in before your opponent can, that makes sense, but to me, the MK team overshot on the idea.

Characters with swords should be the only ones allowed to do these. Just have them do the traditional side slice to the gut when down on two knees.

Oh, but the stage suicide? That I can dig if it looks right. I'd be cool with that.

I think that is a really good idea to have character specific fatalities. I'm surprised nobody thought of that.

As for Hara Kiri's go, I want them to leave. None of them where that entertaining, and I think killing yourself is weird even for MK standards.

No. Say that again and I'll wash your mouth out with soap. They are as bad, if not worse, than most of the dreadful fatalities we were subjected to in MK Trilogy. Except back then they had an excuse.

Yea, I loved the Hara Kiri.

Baraka407 how could you hate all the best ones and like the boring self stabs? Well I guess its just my opinion.

Sindel's was my fave because it was random and funny.
I don't think they should be taken seriously as it was obvious alot were made to be funny like Ermac's.
It was funny when playing with a friend and it would be a race to see who could pull off the fatality or hara kiri first.

But yea I hope they return.

I liked the self stabs because those are the realistic forms of committing hara kiri. Granted, not Mileena's double sai head stab or whatever, but the side sword slice is how one commits hara kiri.

This is just my opinion, but I honestly don't like the silly fatalities. I don't like how in MK3, LIu Kang disappeared and dropped an MK arcade machine on his opponent. To alot of people, the humor is an accepted part of MK.

To me, it's the worst quality of MK. I dont' like it. I don't like seeing Ermac smack his head against the ground until he's dead. It's stupid. It runs counter to his look and the overall feel of the game. The two ideas simply aren't complimentary to me.

That's alright though, to each his own, right?

As for the character specific fatality idea. I'm not sure if I said it before, but that would be AWESOME!!

Definitely no to Hara Kiri. Why would anyone kill themselves the way they did, and put themselves through as much pain as they did? The only one that is believable was Kenshi's.

First of all, mk was always about humor. As long as the gameplay & fatalities are serious, theres no reason why HARA kiri's cant return, and some should be serious and some should be funny( NOT LIKE SINDELS WAS THOUGH)- I admit they could hav used a little bit more skill than that!
The kenshi was more realistic , but who cares - the other ones were wayy better. It was fun to see some of the characters do them. Shit to me, some of the hara kiri"s were better then the fatalities.
Yall trynna make MK9 too realistic, which in a way is ok(AFTER MK vs DC) but it needs humor too& it still can remain dark& brutal. To me MKD was the best later 3d mk( Besides mk gold, cuz that was good 2 for what it was) as far as fatalities/ stage fatalities/ kombos& styles of which i hope mk9 masters& bring bak STYLES ( cheetah, dog, mantis, wolf, Turtle style - slow but powerful, centapede, millapede, tiger etc.) This time around the styles should be more concentrated on( More moves 4 the styles) add emotion

Yeah, we'll just agree to disagree. As I said before, the humor aspects of MK have never been something I've enjoyed. To me, they just blatantly clash with the overall look and feel of the games. I don't recall MK1 having any humor in it and I thought that as far as look and overall vibe were concerned, that one had the best.

Mortal Kombat was never always about humor. I did not find one ounce of humor in MK1, not even with Cage.

Answering the question though, I did not appreciate Hara-Kiri, and what's sad is that this was going to be the next feature I was going to put up for debate in my features/mini-game thread.
