Different fatalities animations please!

posted10/07/2012 08:32 PM (UTC)byOrangatangKang From the original Mortal Kombat, Sonya's kiss of death fatality to Scorpion's toasty.Also,all the damn decapitations from MK ll!Most of the fatalities in each MK game have the same fucking outcome!I know that this is no real news or a real rant to hardcore MK fans like me(probably a million other theads like this).Now...before I say this...the latest Mortal Kombat was fucking awesome!Almost flawless in every way...except the biggest concern I had/have is... you guessed it!Wait!....Now that I think about it...about 75% or 80% of the finishers were different except...the fucking fatalities in which the fucking opponent is ripped completely down the fucking middle like Shao Kahn's and Kintaro's? or Goro's fatality?What tha fuck ever...
My point is...please change it up Mr.Boon.So the long running,ultra gory,and ultra fucking awesome series can stay fresh!

LOL i'm sorry...I don't know if you understood the idea but I meant all the fighters not having the same fatalitiy outcomes like...all the same decaps in part 2 or the same fire death animation(Sektor's flamethrower,TOASTY!,and Liu Kang burning soul) in part 3 so on...

Oh, I thought you just meant like every character have some sort of different action going on per each time they perform their fatality...
But, I know what you mean, but I don't think they'll do that. I mean, it's much easier to design things with a specific animation going on rather than going in there and making it to where one flaming fatality ending doesn't lead to the other flaming fatality with the same ending. It's kind of like a "lazy" thing to do, but realistically, designing everything so differently and such would be more time, more space being used, and other things going on.

My favorite Fatality in the series is the SNES version of Raiden's in MK1, mainly because nobody else in any other game has ever done anything as creative as leave the opponent a pile of dust with a skull sitting in it.
My other favorites were Kung Lao's MK2 slice until MK9 filled the whole game with slices down the middle which takes all the fun out of it (though Kahn doing it with his bare hands is pretty fuckin' wicked), and Quan Chi's Leg Rip is still funny for the fact that he never even stops beating 'em with it as the scene fades out.
I also dig Scorp's dragging them into a lava puddle finisher in vsDCU and his portal one in MK9, and Sub-Zero's Deception finisher where he shatters their legs and they try to crawl away begging for mercy. Kitana's Kiss has always been neat too, or the Rain equivalent in 9. Sektor's Scarecrow is great too for how sudden and weird the effect is.
So I gotta agree that a little more uniqueness and variety would go a long way. My biggest disappointment with the Fatalities in MK9 was that Cyrax's net doesn't chop them into cubes like a net should, 'cause that COULD have looked so awesome. There's also that damned sword to the knees finisher that would have been Scorpion's and was moved to Quan Chi 'cuz nobody liked it. It doesn't fit Quan any better though, these dudes have too many awesome powers to just be chopping people up. You've got a guy who can control minds and summon zombies and skeletons and you don't use those powers in his finishers?

I should of used animations in my subject title
Speaking of ''Waiting for all that game design or whatever and the douches being lazy'' I wouldn't care too much waiting for the slow process of the game being created.I mean,Isn't this what most of you want?A slowly and more hard worked on MK game with less bugs,vivid animations,and better online connections and all that krap!There was some news on the site saying Netherrealm have not began work on MK 2,so I just hope that the team works very HARD!........and ever so SLOWLY!!to produce a MK game that says Flawless Victory on the game case.

I prefer they work on a game at a comfortable pace. Not too fast, not too slow.

I can understand the want for different animations, but I feel like it's such a small thing to really put time and money into. I'd rather they work on other, more important things.

Well,I just hope if they finally decide to do a HD kollection,they switch up some animations and sounds maybe.Oh yeah, do any of you know if Sony or Microsoft will feature your downloaded games from your old console to the next gen consoles soon to be?Like,being able to transfer MK AK to Xbox 3 or PS4?I really hope so.
I know what you mean. I am a hardcore MK fan and to me MK3-Trilogy had the worst fatality animations and their sprites were used OVER N OVER N OVER...MKDA had some of the lamest fatalities(Quan Chi...buawahahaha) but at least they had their respective animations....hopefully this 20yr old bug "little bug" will become less of an issue as time progress. Like when the PS6 and Xbox1080 drops, this shouldn't be a problem

True. Like I said earlier all of the DA fatalities were unique. However, they were not all that appealin, imo.

i'd actually like something like this implemented.
had an interesting take on cyrax net fatality.
cyrax net fatality on a women = smaller size cubes.
cyrax net fatality on boss/bulkier characters = bigger size cubes.
cyrax net fatality on everyone else = medium size cubes.
scorpion portal fatality.
scorpions portal fatality on women characters the portal is placed very high.
scorpions portal fatality on boss/bulkier characters the portal is placed on the ground.
scorpions portal fatality on everyone else the portal is placed mid.

I don't care if the next MK game takes as long as the Resident Evil series or GTA5 but fighter games will never take that long to develop.That said,I still want NRS to take their sweet ass time making the best fighter in decades.
