I think what those dogs did is a preview of the stage animality (there are animals in the background of every scenario so far, the only exceptions being the kove that has water so you can get something from there, and the special forces bases that has a portal from where any creature could come anyway). In most cases the animal we see is a natural predator, in this case I guess there is a need to show that these are wild dogs and hungry enough to try to eat a guy so when they come for the stage animality it makes more sense because you've seen them doing that before.

I just really enjoy the "stories" or the actions taking place in some of the arenas.
