Like everyone believed when MK4 came out.

In my opinion, the NRS team has some love for the douchebag character. He was given his own bio in Armageddon, which only a few other characters had.

Likewise, in the MK Armageddon wallpaper, Jarek was in front, only behind Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung, Shinnok, Shujinko, Kung Lao, Quan Chi, Kai and Reiko. Now this may not mean much cause Kai and Reiko didn't come back for MK9, but it was really hard for them to be in that game and will probably have the chance in MKX.

Now, the question is, is Jarek still in the NRS plans? There have been 8 years since Armageddon so the plans may have changed, but once the mind is set on something, it always comes back in the end.

I think the way to make Jarek likeable is to reveal him as a son Kano never knew/or never cared for until he grew up. Then, he took him under his wing and showed him the Black Dragon way intending to make him his heir. It would be really Kool to see a Jarek-Cassie Cage romance, where she falls for the bad guy type. I wonder what her parents would say about this


Some other characters, like Kira and Kobra, should be revealed as Havik's children, which he deliberately monitored since birth and ordered them brought into Kabal's ranks. This would give depth to their story and also add a sweet incestual side to their relationship (Leia-Luke)
